Advice Needed: Considering giving our child a name our family member wants to use

I am heavily pregnant and my husband and I are considering naming our son William.

My SIL lost her father when she was young—his first name was very uncommon so he went by a nickname version of William, his middle name. We had NO idea she was considering giving a future son William as a first name until we threw it out as a general possibility for us. Then she and her husband got a weird look on their face and said they were considering that name after her dad. She said it would be fine because who knows if they’ll have another son, but I could see some panic in their faces.

For background: My SIL just had a son she named after her husband’s family, already has a daughter, and is not currently expecting, but may want to try for one more.

Should I avoid William entirely? It has been my favorite name for a while but I would feel awful if I robbed her of the possible chance of naming a future son after her late dad.
