3–4 weeks in Alaska next year – places and must-do activities?
Hi everyone, I'm from Australia and I'm thinking about travelling to Alaska next year for roughly 3–4 weeks, sometime in June, July or August.
It'll be my first trip to Alaska and I'm interested in wildlife, especially seeing bears, fishing, hiking, mountains/scenery, camping and generally getting out into the wilderness. I'd also like to experience some of the towns and local food/culture along the way.
With 3–4 weeks to work with, what places would you consider must-visits, and what activities or experiences would you consider absolute must-dos while I'm there?
I'm happy to rent a car and road trip for part or most of it, and I'm also interested in any less touristy places that are worth visiting.
I'd love advice on which month you'd recommend between June, July and August, how you'd structure the trip, what experiences are worth spending extra money on, and anything that isn't worth the hype.
Thanks!
