Is this an Epiphyllum or Dragon Fruit? Neither?

I picked up this plant at an estate sale for $2, and when I first got it, I thought it might be some sort of Epiphyllum which I have experience with. But now that it’s been growing, I’m starting to wonder if it could actually be dragon fruit due to the curling at the top and the areal roots.

The two areas where there are skinny stems shooting straight up is the new growth since August of this year.

I’d love to hear what you guys think or if you know the specific species/variety, even better!

Thanks!

Inconsistent Symptoms?

Does anyone else have endometriosis symptoms that randomly flare up every few months? I’ll have periods of feeling mostly normal, then suddenly my symptoms will return for a few months until they subside again.

Is this common with endo, or do most people experience symptoms more consistently?

Note: my symptoms usually occur around ovulation, but can also show up at any part of my cycle. My gynecologist said I "likely have endo" but I have no formal diagnosis.

Orchid Care Help!

I need help with my orchids! I’m completely new to orchid care and clearly doing something wrong.

I got these as gifts and repotted them into orchid bark because that’s what I kept seeing recommended. However, I feel like the bark is drying out way too quickly and my orchids are thirsty, their pseudobulbs are super unhappy.

I added some sphagnum moss to help retain moisture, but they still seem to be struggling and dying. I soaked the bark when I first repotted for 15-25 minutes and have been watering them once the bark becomes dry which is about 2-3 days.

I know orchids go through bloom cycles, but this seems way too quick. The root balls are also pretty snug in the pots but not jam-packed. I removed all the obvious root rot when I repotted them, so I’m not sure what else I should be doing.

They’re in an east-facing window and get good morning sun. I live in Southern California near the ocean, and humidity is usually around 55–80%, depending on the time of year.

What am I doing wrong, and how can I save them?Any advice is greatly appreciated!

How frequent are your symptoms?

Hi everyone! For those with endometriosis, what symptoms do you experience and how frequently?

I’m curious about your more severe symptoms/flare-ups, how often they happen, how long they last, and whether they occur around your period, ovulation, or randomly throughout the month.

I’d especially love to hear about symptoms that you experience outside of your period and how often your more severe pain occurs.

Thanks!

Pain worse during ovulation than my period?

Does anyone else with confirmed endometriosis have pain that’s worse during ovulation and the luteal phase than during their actual period?

I usually get the most pain around ovulation and then throughout the luteal phase. Once my period starts, I actually get relief. From reading posts here, it seems like many people have the opposite experience. I also think I may have milder symptoms compared to most people, but that may be due to my Mirena IUD.

I’m wondering if this pattern is still common with endometriosis or if it sounds more like pelvic congestion syndrome (or something else).

Would love to hear your experiences. I’m not looking for a diagnosis, just curious if anyone else has a similar symptom pattern.

Symptoms other than painful periods?

I think I may have endo, but I’m not sure if I’m overreacting, if my symptoms are normal, or if they could be linked to something else. Before I went on birth control at 19, I remember my periods being particularly heavy, but not especially painful (although I do have a pretty high pain tolerance).

After starting birth control (first the pill, then an IUD), my periods lightened. But for the last few years I’ve had the following symptoms that make me wonder if it could be endo:

TMI:

  • pain with sex (during penetration and after orgasm)
  • Pain after sex (around 30 minutes after sex, severe cramping)
  • painful ovulation
  • random points in my cycle where I get severe cramping that makes me nauseous / unable to walk
  • cramping and pain after working out
  • tenderness in my abdomen and butt/rectal area, especially with movement or sitting (this is pretty frequent)

Are these symptoms linked to endo? Could they point to something else?

I feel like most of the endo stories I hear involve extremely severe pain, and I’m not sure I experience it to that level, so I keep second-guessing myself.
