Review of USFS Basin Wide Trails Analysis Project and the 45 miles of new trails that were approved

This January, TAMBA helped get the USFS Basin Wide Trails Project officially approved and it's bringing 45 MILES of new trail to the Tahoe Basin.

The big question: where are all these new trails going?!?

After reviewing the 220+ page proposal here are the trail additions you should be most hyped about:

  1. Panorama trail network (in and around Heavenly)
  2. Meeks Ridge trails
  3. Tyrolean (or Tyrolian?) Uphill
  4. Waterhouse Peak Loop
  5. Corral climbing trail
  6. Potential downhill trail from near Big Meadow TH to Meyers

Highlights of the trail networks:

  • Indian Springs: Playfull Little Moab zone
  • Auger Falls: Sections where the Snake River roars 50 plus feet below you
  • Magic Mountain: High-elevation escape from the summer heat in Twin Falls
  • Pomerelle: Raw, rowdy, and unpolished in all the right ways
