Poll: Who’s Your Favorite Moodie?

Dropping in to ask a question I’ve long had that would devolve any other Moody Blues forum into chaos. (Not us, though, since we’ve demonstrated over and over that we’re a mature and respectable bunch).

So I ask… Who’s your personal favorite member of the band?

Of course they’re all great in their own way, but one surely must come to mind first whenever you think of the Moody Blues; someone’s gotta top your list for one reason or another.

Explanation is not required (but is always accepted) for the choice you make.

Play along and prove a point! 😁

John Lodge Tribute Concert — 7/17/26, Clearwater, FL

A Facebook acquaintance of mine filmed the show in Clearwater, FL and threw it on YouTube over the weekend (shout out to Bob).

It was very tastefully executed and seemed like a room full to the rafters with love, if not a little bit of sadness and a lot more joy. I really hope they extend it beyond the single US & UK shows.

Dropping it here for other interested parties to watch.

War of the Worlds

Since today’s Solo Shuffle Song is “Forever Autumn” from War of the Worlds, a fun thing to do is to listen to the original album version—

And then listen to this—

Apparently, Jeff Wayne had originally wanted John Lodge to sing “Thunderchild” on the album as a sort of hand-off from Justin, but the gig went to Chris Thompson, of course. Would’ve been cool to have 2 Moodies on the project, though.

John’s version isn’t bad, but it can’t touch the original. Maybe like a 6.5/10. Just felt like sharing since this album is sort of the album of the day.

Randomized Song Discussion - After the Finale

Like so many of you, I’ve so thoroughly enjoyed AsymptomaticSpatula’s daily Moodies song discussion threads over the last several months which reached a glorious conclusion this morning at number 200 with “Your Wildest Dreams.”

I’ve spent most of the afternoon thinking about how I’ve learned to love so much of this great music deeper or differently as a result, so I’m curious to hear from all of you—

What was your big, specific takeaway from this experience?

Do you have a new regard for an era or album you’d never paid attention to?

Have you gained some new sonic awareness for a tune you’d heard a million times before?

Did a new track leap up your playlist after you heard it here?

Have you developed a new appreciation for a specific songwriter?

And on and on and on…

No doubt we all had a great time, and I’m very curious to know what we’re walking away from this challenge with.

Feel free to drop an answer if you’ve got one!
