How does sole proprietorship taxation work with an LLC?

I recently formed a single-member LLC for my small business, and I'm trying to understand what actually changes when it comes to taxes.

I know a single-member LLC is usually taxed like a sole proprietorship unless you choose a different tax election. If that's true, then what difference does the LLC make at tax time.

Do I still report the business income and expenses on my personal tax return like I did before? Are there any additional tax forms or payments I need to worry about now that I have an LLC?

I Don’t Need Another CRM. I Need Software That Helps Me Actually Manage My Sales Team

I manage a sales team of around 20 people, and lately I've realized that my biggest challenge isn't keeping customer information organized. It's understanding what's actually happening with my team between the numbers on the monthly sales report.

Most of the team performs well. A few people are struggling, though, and I don't want my only management tool to be looking at their results at the end of the month and telling them to "sell more."

By that point, it's already too late.

I'd rather understand the behaviors leading to those results.

Are they planning enough customer visits? Are meetings actually moving opportunities forward? Are they following up? Is the pipeline healthy, or are the same opportunities sitting there for weeks?

So I'm looking for sales team management software that gives me visibility without making the team feel like they're spending half their day feeding a complicated CRM.

I can buy sophisticated software, but if my salespeople find it frustrating, they'll either avoid it or enter the bare minimum just to satisfy management. Then I'm back where I started, looking at a dashboard built on information nobody trusts.

I've considered larger platforms like Salesforce because they seem capable of doing almost everything, but I'm wondering whether that's more system than a smaller business actually needs, especially once implementation and licensing costs start adding up.

For other sales managers, what software has actually helped you coach and manage your sales team, rather than simply giving you another place to store customer records?

I'm interested in tools that helped weaker performers improve because managers could finally see where the process was breaking down.

At this point, I don't want more data for the sake of data. I want enough visibility to have better conversations with my team and help good salespeople become even better.

How Should I Format an Invoice for Hours Worked?

I've always charged clients a fixed price for my work, but I'm switching to time-based billing for one of my clients and I'm stuck on the invoice itself.

The work is straightforward, but I don't want to send over an invoice that looks confusing or leaves the client wondering how I arrived at the total.

If you're billing by the hour, do you list the hours worked, your hourly rate, and the total? Or is there a better way to show it when the work is split across several different tasks?

I'm also wondering how much detail is normal. Do you include every individual task and the time spent on it, or just give one total for the period?

I've found plenty of invoice templates online, but they all seem to do things a little differently.

I'd rather hear from you who bill this way regularly. How do you structure yours?

Should a wedding photography business start with an LLC?

I'm getting ready to launch my wedding photography business full time, and I'm trying to decide if forming an LLC should happen before I start signing contracts with clients.

I know there are benefits to having an LLC, but I'm not sure if it's worth doing immediately or after the business starts generating consistent income.

If you're a wedding photographer, what did you do when you first started?

Free CRM recommendation that has worked for you?

I've been researching free CRM software for businesses of different sizes, and one thing I've learned is that there's no shortage of options. The challenge is figuring out which free CRM actually delivers value once you start using it.

Some platforms offer generous free plans but lock key features behind paid upgrades. Others stay free but have limitations that only become obvious after you've invested time setting everything up.

I'm curious to hear from people who've actually used a free CRM in their business.

Sometimes the most valuable recommendations don't come from feature comparison pages. They come from people who've lived with the software day after day.

Best invoice factoring companies for small businesses. which Ones Are Worth It?

Hi everyone,

My business has been growing, and while sales are steady, waiting on customer payments has started to put pressure on cash flow. I've been looking into invoice factoring and invoice financing as a way to bridge those gaps, but comparing providers has been more confusing than I expected.

Every company highlights low rates and fast funding, but it's difficult to understand the real costs, qualification requirements, and overall experience without digging through a lot of information.

I've researched a few well-known providers, but I'd really like to hear from people who have actually used invoice factoring services.

Which invoice factoring company have you had the best experience with? How did you compare your options, and are there any providers or hidden fees I should watch out for before signing up?

Can you get a DBA without starting another LLC?

I already have an LLC in Texas. Let’s call it Blue Sparrow LLC.

If I want to do business simply as Blue Sparrow without using LLC at the end, would I need to register a DBA?

Also, what if I wanted to use a slightly different name like Blue Sparrow Studio? Would that require a DBA too?

I’m trying to understand when a DBA is actually needed if you already have an LLC. How does this normally work?

Does anyone structure their business with a C corp owning multiple LLCs?

I currently have a C corporation that owns a single-member LLC, and I set it up this way because I thought it would make it easier to separate different business ventures over time.

My understanding is that each new business could operate under its own LLC while the C corp remains the parent company. That seems like it could help keep liabilities isolated if one venture runs into legal or financial problems.

I'm also trying to understand how this structure works from a tax and administrative standpoint. Since the LLC is wholly owned by the C corp, is it typical for everything to flow through the corporation's tax return, or are there other reporting requirements I should be aware of?

Is There a CRM That Can Actually Replace My Entire Tech Stack?

I feel like my business has reached the point where I'm spending almost as much time managing software as I am managing customers.

Every time I solve one problem, I end up adding another tool to the stack. Individually they're all decent, but together they've become a tangled mess that's expensive to maintain and frustrating to keep in sync.

It all works until something breaks or an integration stops talking to another app.

What I'd really love is a CRM that becomes the center of everything instead of another tool sitting beside five others. I don't necessarily need every feature to be the absolute best. I'd happily trade a few advanced features for a platform that keeps my team in one place and dramatically reduces the number of subscriptions I'm paying for.

I've looked at Salesmate, which seems pretty close to what I want, and Zoho CRM, but by the time I add the integrations and extra modules it starts feeling far more expensive than it first appears.

So I'm curious.

Has anyone here genuinely simplified their business with one CRM instead of building a giant stack of connected apps? What did you choose, what couldn't it replace, and if you had to start over today, would you make the same decision?

I'm less interested in the flashiest platform and more interested in hearing what has actually made life easier.

Please I need an invoicing software for my small business?

Hi everyone,

As my freelance business grows, I've reached the point where I want to move away from creating invoices manually and start using dedicated invoicing software.

I've looked at quite a few options, and they all seem to promise the same things: professional invoices, payment tracking, automated reminders, and easy client management. The challenge is figuring out which ones are actually practical to use day after day.

Some tools seem refreshingly simple, while others are packed with features that look impressive but might be overkill for a small business or solo freelancer.
