I'm interested in programming and also health sciences—what can I do?

I'm 20 y/o. I tried a degree in chemistry and pharmacy, but I didn't like wet-lab work. I'm writing this post to get a clearer picture so I can decide which degree program to choose. I'm certain that my interests lie in programming. However, I've also taken health science courses-such as the fundamentals of morphology and cell biology-and found them quite interesting, which has drawn me toward biomedical engineering and biotechnology, especially the field of bioinformatics.

Continue in Pharmacy or switch to Biomedical Sciences or Computer Science?

Hi everyone! I’m 20 years old and just finished my first year of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Honestly, I didn't love chemistry; I always found it a bit of a grind. I also took a course called Morphology, and I actually found the study of the human body quite fascinating—though I haven't figured out yet if it's just a love for learning or if I genuinely want to pursue a career in the field. Computing and programming have always appealed to me, but I keep seeing everywhere that the market is oversaturated, which really discourages me. Lately, however, I’ve started considering switching to Biomedical Engineering.

Pharm, Electronics or CS?

Hi everyone! I’m 20 years old and currently studying for a degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. I’ve been at it for a year, but from the very beginning, I wasn't sure if it was the right fit for me. Chemistry never really appealed to me, and now that I’m studying it in depth, I’m certain I don’t really like it. That said, I can't deny my interest in the pharmaceutical side of things.

Before college, I completed a high school program specializing in Computer Science—a field that always interested me. I’ve always wanted to study programming, though I never seriously considered it as a career path. I am also drawn to electronics, specifically microchip programming.

I honestly don't know what I want to do with my life, and I find that I don't really enjoy most of my pharmacy degree program. But at the same time, I enjoy theoretical topics. In fact, that’s the dilemma! I can’t tell whether I like something simply out of a love for knowledge or because of a genuine calling.

Now that the semester is over, I’m thinking about taking a gap year to really think things through. I just don't know what to do.
