Do I need consent for removing a gas fireplace?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice regarding a gas fireplace in my Christchurch home. The house was built in the 1960s, and the existing fireplace was never consented. We haven’t used it since buying the place (6 years already), and it’s fixed to the wall.

If we want to remove it, do we need any kind of building or gas consent, or can we just take it out ourselves? I just want to make sure we do everything by the book.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Hi all! I’ve been an NRI for over a decade and have had an Airtel SIM since 2010. While living overseas, I’ve continued using this number mainly for bank OTPs and services like Amazon, Flipkart, Uber, Swiggy, and DMart, so I can place orders for my parents and grandparents in India.

During a short visit to India last year, I converted the SIM to a postpaid eSIM. Since then, I’ve had no network at all, and Airtel support hasn’t been helpful—just repeated “we’re working on it” responses with no resolution.

I wanted to check if anyone else has faced a similar issue and what alternatives might be better. Which SIM providers (prepaid or postpaid) would you recommend for someone in my situation? Ideally, I’m looking for an affordable plan with validity for up to 365 days, since I only visit India once every couple of years.

My main requirement is to receive OTPs from Indian services, and when I’m in India, to use it for calls.

PS: If possible, please share links to suitable plans as well.
