Thoughts on my draft? (9th pick in 10 man)

Was really disappointed as the draft was going on but I’ve talked myself into my squad now that I’ve slept on it. What do you think?

I’m so nervous

If this front office signs AD to a 4 year $285 million max. That would be a vintage wizards move that would set our franchise back 8 years. We already signed Trae to a shitty contract, but that can be justified, kinda. But AD? To that number, would be malpractice and complete mismanagement of the cap. I have this feeling they might not sign him 71m a year, but closer to 54-58 range which would have us locked up with two of our best players being aging out of their prime stars. I hope they can reach a reasonable agreement something like 2 years 90 million with a PO idk just not 50+ for AD

The Ringers Winner and Losers article:

They had the wizards as losers and to be honest, I agree with some of what they said about the trae contract but some of it just blatant disrespect to Trae Young. What's your opinion?

How do you land the no. 1 pick in a transformational draft and still grade out as a loser this offseason? Well, let’s just say it didn’t feel like a coincidence to see Trae Young’s ridiculous contract get leaked one day before AJ Dybantsa was selected first overall. Call me a cynic, but the best way to get the stink off an embarrassing announcement is to bury it behind some very good news.

I already wrote about this in the Offer Sheet, and pretty much nothing has changed since. Sure, the Wizards are still well below the tax and don’t have to worry about the aprons right now. But plopping a minus contract that eats 30 percent of the cap onto your books is a disaster waiting to happen. Paying Young $57 million in three years when he’ll be on the wrong side of 30 is not shrewd. Opportunity cost is a thing, and building around an incoming franchise player means every decision should suit his needs.

To put this deal in perspective, Collin Gillespie just signed a fully guaranteed four-year, $48 million contract with the Suns. He will earn about $10.7 million next season. Is Young nearly five times better than Gillespie? If the Wizards picked Dybantsa, signed Phoenix’s point guard, and still had flexibility to be active in a marketplace that’s light on buyers, their future would look so much brighter than it does. Options are good.

If I were choosing from a list of multiple-time All-Stars who were most ideal to build around my new 19-year-old franchise player, Young might be Mr. Irrelevant. Washington has six tradable first-round picks and 11 second-rounders at its disposal. I wonder how many it’ll take to eventually dump his contract? (I already thought the Wizards were losers before they traded for Deandre Ayton, but the decision to give up two second-round picks for such a disappointing journeyman officially cemented them on this list.)

This years lottery results using the new lottery reform:

My goodness how awful would this be. Not only would it be falling to 10 but giving our pick to a finals team. Thank god we got the 1st pick what a sliding doors moment for us.

With out current roster

Who can you see be a playoff riser or playoff shrinker. To me I see Tre Johnson and Keyshawn George as risers just because I feel like Tre plays with no fear and is willing to let that shit fly. Key I think he’ll be under control and stay level headed.

Playoff shrinker, I mean how is it not Alex Sarr and Bub? Those guys just give off shrinking vibes come high leverage situations.

This is obviously a hypothetical and we won’t know until they play in playoff games but who do you think is riser or shrinker?

Of the draft lottery. May 10th could be the most elated or most disappointment day of my fanhood. I’m expecting worse case scenario but when worse case scenario happens, the intense feeling that proceed afterwards are not something you can prepare for. I’m so nervous of that day. What are we thinking?
