Fireworks delay/reschedule?

Or are they planning to proceed? Nothing on the Columbia Lakefront web page. Is there a better official (and timely) source?

What is replacing Po Boy Jim next to Mod Pizza in Town Center?

I saw they were gutting the Po Boy Jim space next to Mod Pizza in Town Center. Does anyone know what is going in there? Would it be wise to spread some sort of contraceptive ointment to make sure no banks/brokerages reproduce there?

Thanks for new tarp recommendation!

These are the least scenic photos from my three days this week in Dolly Sods, WV, but I wanted to express my gratitude to this sub and the venerable u/kullulu for helping me upgrade my tarp setup.  My old silnylon tarp billowed and buffeted unpleasantly in winds over 10 mph, no matter how I pitched it.  The new tarp--a Warbonnet Mountainfly 13 foot--was rock solid in winds gusting to 20 mph.  Yay, and thank you!

The geekery:

  • I chose the Warbonnet over the Dutchware Bonded Xenon due to the additional center ground tie-out.
  • The fabric is 30D, but still feels very light while sturdy.
  • All tie-out points and end loops use shock cord rather than direct connections to reduce stress and potential tears.
  • The continuous ridgeline is 1.75mm hollow core Dyneema cord, or Lash-it.  It is very strong and doesn't stretch like my heavier paracord ridgeline, but it is prone to tangling if not wound neatly.
  • The fixed end of the ridgeline uses a Dutch Hook, and the variable end uses a Dutch Wasp.
  • The tarp attaches at each end to NAMA claws (basically, metal Prusik knots) that can reposition the tarp wherever the hammock ends up.
  • I brought both an internal center pole and two small exterior poles for the side panel pull-outs.  The internal pole was more than adequate to create significant usable interior space.
  • The tie-outs use reflective 1.5 mm Paria dyneema cord with Dutch Ringworms.  The Ringworms snap securely and satisfyingly onto the shock cord tie-outs.
  • Ringworms are designed to work with hollow core Lash-it/Zing-it, but the Paria cord is rough enough that it grabs decently.  Additionally, the cord is stiff, resists tangling, and most importantly, is incredibly visible after nighttime stargazing.  I couldn't find reflective Zing-it.  Micro-Linelocs hold this cord more securely, but the Ringworms allow the cord to be shortened right down to the stake in storms rather than just half its length.
  • The snakeskin halves are mesh, rather than waterproof, to reduce the risk of mildew during wet trips.

This is my first experience with Dutch bling.  It is definitely overkill when I should have the mental discipline to learn the necessary knots for these cords.  But it is functional and beautifully designed--like jewelry for your tarp.

Finally, I thought I might roast in my 15 degree Superior gear hammock on 60 degree nights.  But it was incredibly comfortable with a light quilt.  My regular summer hammock would have been too cold.
