Moving to Dallas from AZ - Need 2B2B apartment suggestions under $2500

My friend and I (both 20s, two girls) are moving from Arizona to the Dallas area and could really use some advice on where to live.

I’ll be working in Downtown Dallas and she’ll be working in Fort Worth, so we’re trying to find a good middle-ground to find a place to live.

What we’re looking for:

  • 2 bed / 2 bath apartment
  • Budget: up to $2500/month
  • Safe neighborhood (this is our top priority)
  • Preferably newer apartments / decent amenities (gym, parking, etc.)

We’ve looked a bit at areas like Las Colinas, Irving, and parts of Arlington, but honestly we’re overwhelmed by how many options there are and how spread out everything is.

Would love suggestions on:

  • Specific neighborhoods or suburbs we should focus on
  • Apartment complexes you’d personally recommend
  • Areas we should avoid
  • Any commute insights between Dallas ↔ Fort Worth

Any help would be really appreciated—trying to make a smart decision before we sign anything.

Thank you!

First Car Buy: Advice

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to make my first real car decision, and I feel a bit overwhelmed with all the variables. I’d really appreciate some perspective.

My situation:

I recently graduated and am starting my first full-time job soon

I’ll be moving from Phoenix, AZ to Dallas, TX for work

This is my first car purchase, and I don't have much driving experience

I want something reliable and long-term (thinking Toyota Camry Hybrid or Honda Accord Hybrid)

Budget-wise, I’m looking at around 25k-30k (i am going to finance), but I’m unsure if going into that much debt for that makes sense right now

What I’m debating:

  1. Buy now in Phoenix vs wait until Dallas

Not sure if prices/insurance/deals are better in Texas or Arizona

Also not sure if I should wait until I settle in Dallas before buying; however, if I buy in AZ now, I can use the summer to get more comfortable driving.

  1. New vs used

New Camry Hybrid/Accord Hybrids (~$30k+) seems tempting for reliability + warranty

Used Camry/Accord hybrids are still expensive and sometimes close to new prices anyway

  1. Financing / debt

Is it reasonable to finance a $25k–$35k car right out of college?

I’m trying to understand what a “safe” monthly payment actually looks like for someone starting out

. Where to buy

Dealerships (safer, but more expensive?)

Facebook Marketplace (cheaper, but riskier for a first-time buyer?)

I’m basically trying to figure out:

what’s the smartest financial decision here

what most people regret (overpaying, buying too early, etc.)

whether I should prioritize reliability over saving money upfront or vice versa

Would really appreciate any advice from people who’ve been in a similar situation : )
