I am a 37 year old woman and my husband is about the same age. Would we be out of place if we went to Club Vivo on a Friday night?
Planning to visit in November and curious in must do things in the area. Any hiking, amusement park, even within an hour driving distance people recommend. Thank you :)
She will be working downtown near the courthouse City Hall. I'll be staying at home with the 3-year-old. We each have a car.
• Our budget for monthly rent will be ~2k.
• I really don't want her to have to do the Dallas highway commute, so ideally she could take public transit, walk, or maybe just drive through the downtown streets.
• Somewhere friendly to a small child and a small dog. Ideally, somewhere I could easily take the little one to museums, splash pads, etc. etc.
I'm starting to fear this is a "pick 2" situation, but I'm hoping for some good recommendations. We're open to apartments or houses.
We’re looking to purchase a home in the white rock area of Dallas after spending several years in the northern suburbs and looking for some insights on safety of some of the surrounding neighborhoods.
We love the homes and feel of Forest Hills (so many mature trees!), but the houses we’ve looked at that are in our range ($400-600k) are at the top end of our budget.
I’ve seen a few houses that are more mid-range to our budget in the Claremont/white rock hills area closer to Ferguson road - but I’m not sure how safe that area is. We’ve driven through some of the streets and they seem safe and quiet during the day, but would love to hear any perspectives of folks who currently live/have lived in that area or near that area.
The allure for us moving to White Rock is that we are regularly driving to the lake to walk our active dog, going on runs, biking - but there will also be times we likely need to settle for a run or walk with the dog around the immediate neighborhood we land in, so we want to make sure it’s safe.
Thank you in advance!
Looking for recommendations! I’m looking to make a move to the Dallas area. I have family in Lavon/Rockwall area but not wanting to live there. I’m in healthcare, single female mid 30s. I’m liberal politically and am educated about the more conservative mindset in Texas overall. I’m coming from the Midwest (lived in Chicago and now in the suburbs). My job potential would be in the medical district and ideally would want to be within a 20-30 min commute max. I’d like a house, nothing huge but would like outdoor space but would be open to nicer areas with townhouses too. Walking trails and green space would be great! My budget would be up to 500k. My main wants would be a safe area, diverse age ranges, and close to restaurants and shopping. Looking forward to hearing ideas!
We plan to move to North Dallas early next year from PHX. For anyone that has made the move, do you like it so far and anything that you regret/miss here in PHX. Also, do you prefer the weather in North Dallas? Thank you in advance.
Hey I’m in town this week for business but I have a lot of down time. I’m in the Rowlett/Rockwall area. Anything fun to do?
Hey guys, I’m planning to go to Texas live today for USA game. Tables are first come first serve. For those who been before about how early do you think I need to show up? Would 1 or 2 hours before the game sufficient time to get a table?
Bonus points if there is deals on certain days of the week or good happy hour specials!
I got a job offer in downtown Dallas and will be relocating to Texas. I’m looking for apartments and trying to balance price with location and downtown is looking out of my budget. I found a good place in Coppell near I-635, but I know Dallas traffic is nothing like where I live now.
I’m currently in a WFH job but previously had a 30 minute commute and it wasn’t a big deal for me. I’ll likely work east coast hours so \*thinking\* I might be able to dodge some of the mess. I also saw DART has a route to take me downtown, so I’ll probably use that a couple of times a week.
Am I crazy to consider this commute?
ETA: downtown Dallas (Victory Park) as location
My girlfriend (22) and I (21) are moving to the Dallas area in the next couple of months and could use some local advice on our search for an apartment.
Our budget is around $1,200/month (not including utilities) for a one-bedroom or larger studio, though we’re willing to stretch a bit for the right place. So far we’ve been looking primarily in Richardson, Addison, and Old East Dallas, as we’re trying to stay central and near uptown/downtown, but we’re open to other areas if they fit our budget and priorities. We just aren’t yet familiar enough with the area to know what we might be missing.
Our biggest priorities are:
Responsive and well managed apartment community
Safe Area where we’d feel comfortable walking around in the evening.
Walking distance or short drive to great restaurants, coffee shops, and things to do.
(Commute is a non factor for us)
Any recommendations for specific apartment communities or neighborhoods are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I'm shopping around for affordable car insurance in Dallas, Texas, and the quotes I've received are all over the place. I have a clean driving record, but rates still seem higher than I expected.
For those living in Dallas, which insurance company has given you the best balance of price and customer service? Any companies to avoid? Also, did bundling, increasing your deductible, or using a telematics app actually lower your premium?
I'd love to hear your real experiences before I make a decision. Thanks!
Hey folks, I recently got a job offer in Roanoke and will be moving to Fort Worth soon. I'm 25M and so have been trying to find places that have a more city like feel with a younger crowd.
I found a couple of good apartments near downtown FW, particularly The Franklin at Samuel's Ave and The Huntley. However, I've been wondering what the work commute would look like. On paper, the trip should take about 25 min with moderate traffic but I'm assuming its gonna be worse during rush hour.
Do you guys think the commute is doable or should I move somewhere closer to roanoke? I'm also open to suggestions about other places I can potentially live in.
Hey I’m a 31m recently moved to Texas with a corporate relocation and I have the option to live in DFW or ATX. I’ve spent some time in both cities and have a feel for where I like and don’t like.
Where have you found to have the better dating pool taking in account the fact I’m looking for a Catholic partner and the infrastructure (YCP, YA, etc) to organically meet (preferably outside the average bar/party scene)?
Also any perspectives from app dating welcomed. Thx!
Hi friends! I just wanted to come here and ask for recommendations on what types of services I may need?
I have an extremely stressful job, and I used to get a massage every 6 months, but eventually just stopped due to life circumstances.
I can feel my body struggling to keep up now, it’s getting to the point where it’s constantly reminding me how stressed I am. I’ve had a knot under my shoulder blade for going on 10 years now, my back muscles are killing me, I seem to hold a lot of stress in my hips and my neck/traps and shoulders. My mobility is starting to become limited and my range of motion in my arms. I’ve tried some stretches and posture correcting, but at this point I need help from somebody who actually knows what they’re doing.
Massage?
Stretch Lab?
Chiropractor?
Acupuncture?
Physical therapist?
Other professions that I have no idea exist??? I need help finding places I can go to get me back to baseline.
Recommendations anybody???
Thanks for reading :)
In some places I’ve lived, there were good options for buying model home furniture at a solid discount. A lot of it was mid-tier or better, and you could get well-made pieces without paying full retail (closer to 60-70% off and barely used). Are there any stores or warehouses like that in the DFW area?
We’re also open to stores that have good pricing on quality furniture in general. Most of our current furniture is from Arhaus, so we’re looking for something in that general quality/style range, but ideally without overpaying.
We have a child, so we’re probably ruling out very high-end places like Cantoni unless there’s a strong sale or closeout. We only need a few pieces to finish out the house and want things that will last long-term.
Closeout stores, model home furniture sellers, warehouse sales, consignment stores with better brands, or places that carry mid- to upper-tier furniture at a discount would all be helpful.
We checked out The Dump and it wasn’t bad, but we didn’t find much that both my wife and I liked. We’re hoping for pieces that are a little more interesting than what you’d typically find at Ethan Allen, but still practical for a family home.
Any DFW recommendations? We've also stocked FBM and CL without much luck.
Anyone know how to get tickets for Sunday July 5th to Fan Festival? Was planning to attend but shows sold out online.
