Do you think Jaffna could surpass Colombo if the Tamil diaspora returns to invest?

I genuinely believe that if the Tamil diaspora returns to Sri Lanka and heavily focuses on developing Jaffna, it has the potential to become even more advanced and developed than Colombo. What are your thoughts on this? Is it a realistic possibility or just wishful thinking?

What if Sri Lanka never experienced the civil war and the 2022 economic crisis?

Before 1983, Lee Kuan Yew wanted Singapore to emulate Sri Lanka’s development. If we had bypassed 26 years of civil war and the recent economic collapse, where would we stand today?

Could Sri Lanka ever actually host a NASCAR event?

Could Sri Lanka ever host NASCAR? We have the passion, but do we have the track? NASCAR cars weigh 3,200 lbs—our roads lack the required FIA-grade safety and SAFER barriers. Plus, could we handle flying 40 teams overseas, or afford the multi-million dollar fees for a US-centric sport? What do you think?

How was rap culture in Sri Lanka before 2010?

I've been curious about the history of Sri Lankan rap and hip-hop before 2010.

What was the scene like back then? Was it mostly underground, or did it have mainstream popularity? How influential were artists like Iraj, Chinthy, Ranidu, Centigradz,Ruki D,Delon Jayasinghe,BK,suboda,Rude boy Shiraz and early Tamil rap artists?

For those who were around at the time, what are your memories of Sri Lankan rap in the 2000s? Was it a golden era or is that just nostalgia?

Former Sri Lankan Intelligence Director Suresh Sallay’s family appeals to the Pope over his detention. Will the Vatican actually intervene?

The family of former State Intelligence

Service (SIS) Director Suresh Sallay has appealed to Pope Leo XIV to intervene over his continued detention and deteriorating health while in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The appeal was submitted on Tuesday (23) through the Apostolic Nuncio to Sri Lanka, the Vatican's representative in the country.

Sallay has been in CID custody as part of investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks. He was transferred to the National Hospital in Colombo after launching a hunger strike while in detention and has remained hospitalized for more than two weeks.

In their appeal, family members sought the Pope's intervention on humanitarian grounds.

The move comes amid increasing public discussion over Sallay's case, with several members of Sri Lanka's Catholic clergy having recently commented on his detention and health during media briefings.

Can Sri Lankan villages reach Japanese standards?

Do you think Sri Lankan villages could eventually reach the standards of rural Japan in terms of cleanliness, infrastructure, public services, community organization, and quality of life?

What are the biggest challenges preventing this—funding, governance, education, culture, or something else?

Are there any Sri Lankan villages that could serve as examples of what's possible?

I'd love to hear opinions from people familiar with both countries and rural development. What lessons can Sri Lanka realistically learn from Japan?

Does anyone remember the viral video/image of the weeping statue in Kalutara right before the 2019 Easter attacks?

Does anyone remember the video circulating right after the 2019 Easter attacks showing a church statue "weeping" in Kalutara, allegedly on April 20th (the day before)?

At the time, people called it a miracle or warning. But looking back at the political conspiracy and recent investigations, could this have been a staged incident or part of a psychological operation to stir up tension right before the bombings?

Did anyone ever find out if this video was a total hoax, or if it could actually be linked to the political plot?
