CustomMade.com $2400 engagement ring broke at 8 months, The warranty covers nothing. Am I overreacting or is this a buyer beware?

Need a sanity check on this one.

I bought a custom engagement ring from CustomMade about 8 months ago, spent 2400 dollars on it. My fiance is genuinely careful with it. Takes it off to shower, to sleep, to wash her hands, to do her lab work. There's no rough wear happening with this ring.

A few weeks ago we noticed one of the amethyst accent stones was missing. No idea when it happened, we just looked down at some point and it was gone. Sent the ring in for warranty assessment expecting that to be the whole point of the warranty. Their jeweler comes back saying the prong was damaged and it's not a manufacturing defect, the cause was "sharp impact." Apparently rings can get damaged from minor contact at the wrong angle even if you never notice it happen. I can't prove a negative so fine, whatever.

The estimate:

Prong repair: $200

Amethyst replacement: $107

Total: $307

Here's where I'm losing it. The accent stone warranty covers stones valued up to $100. Both accent stones on this ring are valued at $107. A $107 stone and a $100 stone are basically the same stone, gem valuations move by way more than 7 bucks depending on cut, source, demand and even in person negotiation. But because of that $7 gap, the warranty doesn't actually cover anything on the ring. It's a warranty that exists on paper and does nothing in practice.

I asked for some goodwill on the amethyst. Mentioned we were planning to come back to them for a matching wedding band. Got pointed right back to the warranty terms.

I picked a custom shop because I wanted something meaningful, made well, made to last. 8 months in I'm $307 deep on a repair, getting hassled over a $7 stone valuation on a $2400 piece, and they don't seem to care that I was about to spend more money with them.

Am I crazy or is this as off as it feels? Anyone else dealt with this from CustomMade?
