Haven't been home in donkeys, saw the Arc Cinema programming.

Lads, it's unbelievable. Moved to Dublin 7 years ago and don't get home much but said I'd see a movie on Friday evening with old friends.

Saw Ferrari in the Arc years ago, lovely renovation but that was it.

Whoever is programming in the Arc deserves a fucking medal though. So nice to see Honest to God films for grown ups get almost equal play to Marvel, Disney, etc. I used to get to the IFI and the Light House a lot, but have moved way down south of the county so stuck by an Odeon that has 9 screens and most of it is absolute dogshit. All sequels, remakes, reboots, spinoffs. And look I enjoy a big blockbuster too, but you would miss the days of going to something interesting and coming out, having a pint afterwards and chatting through what it all meant.

Hoping Arc is busy these days? Would love to see more Cork get more and more cultured things to do for adults, maybe another theater space, a good gig/event indoor space and get rid of some of those fucking vape and sports stores.

Between MacCurtain Street having the best food in the country and now the Arc getting every single Independent film, Cork is becoming some hub like

My first Reacher book.

Binged S1-3, want to take a short break before S4 and read a Reacher book, so I started with The Affair. Seemed like a good place to start, being a prequel an' all.

Please no spoilers as I'm only 100 pages in, but I LOVE it so far. Unpretentious, suspenseful and efficient storytelling. I literally cannot put it down. I got so excited by page 100 I ran out to the library and got Tripwire to start next.

My question is, having seen S1-3, are there enough differences in the books they adapt to make it still enjoyable and surprising to read? Afterall, that's 5 books so far they'll have adapted, and it looks like the show will just keep getting more popular, so I don't see it stopping before S7 or so.

Fourth class this morning, and frustrated.

Second class where I basically had to sit out the Romanian Deadlift. I just cannot seem to nail the posture and movement. Been over it with the class coach, know to keep my back straight and hinge my hips, but it's like my mind knows it but body won't obey?

For context I only started training for the very first time last week, having never been to a gym or lifted a weight before!

I know I'll get it in good time, and practice makes perfect, but it's a tiiiny bit embarrassing as I go over it with the coach, he shows me, I repeat, then when I'm doing it solo I just arch my back every single time :(

Anyone strength train at the gym? Good lord

Did my first class on Sunday, a 50 minute session in a great gym in Dublin. Lovely staff and great class, but I'm FUUUUUUCKED since then and I have class again tomorrow at 7:30am.

I've had barbaric DOMS since then, so I definitely overdid it in my first class, not wanting to embarrass myself and do fuck all. Lats, triceps and hamstrings are buckled lolol

I've been chugging water, stretching but I feel like I'll be able for about 30% of tomorrow's class?!

Do I just go and tell the class instructor I'm bait?! 😅

Brand new; had my first ever class yesterday.

37 years old, had my first strength training class yesterday, my second tomorrow. Feeling SORE, but happy to be started.

I do have a question though. I'm trying to make my diet clean and protein heavy, but I'm reluctant to start weighing/counting, as I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and have a history of becoming unhealthily obsessive over certain things. I'm worried counting/weighing may lead to obsessive and dangerous eating patterns.

I haven't said this to my trainer yet, but will tomorrow.

Currently my diet is roughly the same, with some deviations here and there;

- Vanilla Soya Yoghurt, Granola, Acai, Banana and blueberries and Almond Butter every morning.

- Americano with Oat Milk.

- Protein bar after class

- Edamame, Broccoli, White Rice, Hoisin Tofu, Carrots

- Chocolate and Peanut Butter Overnight Oats with organic Maple Syrup and banana.

Maybe 3 days a week I'll have something like a jambon, a plain seeded brown bread sandwich with vegan mayo, spinach and quorn ham.

What else should I be eating? I feel like it's not enough?

How do you tackle looking for a new job?

Based in Dublin and thought I'm not happy in my current role and started the aul job hunt. Started very strong with two interviews in the first two weeks, but lost out on both due to people with more experience.

Third week, had a call with recruiter who said they were sending over the schedule for the next round, but got ghosted, unfortunately.

My wife says to tailor my CV to each role I'm looking for. Friends say just absolutely blanket the place online in CVs. Another says take my time and be choosy.

Anyone that's changed jobs recently, how'd you go about it? Big burst of applications? Slow rollout? How long did it take?

Feeling generally optimistic, if a little impatient lol

M50 at night, losing the plot

Bought a new build right next to the M50 by the Carrickmines exit.

Every. Single. Night. it sounds like racing cars thundering past the gaff. Full on high-revving engines. Because we're by the curve of the M50 too, it's like you can hear them coming for a few seconds then another few seconds after they pass too.

Have to be doing 150kmph, easy. And it's every single night from 9pm or so onwards.

I know I can't do anything at all about it so whatever, but it makes me wonder is there a car meetup near Carrickmines or something?

S3 EP1

Only watching for the first time trying to catch-up before S4.

Episode one of season three is my favourite episode so far after the pilot. So good, and what a twist before the opening credits!!

I heard some negative sentiment towards S2, but I liked it overall, though not as much as S1. S3 is already seriously upping its game though. Also the giant guy, hahahaha
