The end of an era?

Hi! New to this sub but not new to the manga scene here, I just wanted to ask a somewhat meta question and hear your thoughts especially after hearing about Kishimoto’s comeback. At this point in time, is it even possible for a new series to reach the heights of previous titles like Naruto/Bleach/One Piece?

Obviously those three are incredible mangas (with loads of haters to boot) in their own right, but it also feels like they’re a product of their era. An era where anime wasn’t mainstream, where the internet was developing, without Netflix/Crunchyroll and more importantly without the current fast-paced culture of social media.

Jump has always been hyper competitive, but the competition feels… Different nowadays. To me, it just doesn’t feel like a new series can ever get to those heights again regardless of quality if only because of the current climate of the world. It seems impossible unless we somehow rewind the clock technologically.

What do you think? Am I coping or is this a good observation?
