Burning out retraining VA's every 2 months. How are you vetting remote admin staff?

Small Melbourne team of 4. Tried hiring VA's off Upwork for vendor invoices and CRM entries to free up some time.

First one ghosted after 6 weeks, second kept making mistakes in customer logs. Paying around $9/hr on Upwork, but retraining people over and over is killing my evenings.

Are you guys building custom test tasks yourself or using proper agencies to filter applicants first?

What's the best way to move furniture across the UK without spending a fortune?

I'm going to be moving some furniture and a few larger household items soon, and I'm trying to figure out the most reliable and affordable way to get everything from one city to another.

For those of you who've done a similar move, what did you end up using? I'm mainly interested in hearing about real experiences, whether they were good or bad, so I can avoid making an expensive mistake.

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Best option for 12 people + luggage from NWI to O'Hare without paying $400+ for Uber XLs?

Getting quoted crazy prices ($400+) for rideshares and private airport shuttles to get a group of 12 from NWI out to O'Hare next month. Since we've got a ton of luggage, standard Ubers won't work, and multiple Uber XLs or private vans are quoting us absolute non-sense.

Has anyone done this run with a big group? Looking for a decent workaround.

Anyone dealt with a popping/noisy roof on a historic house in Chicagoland?

Got a weird issue with my older place. Ever since the heat picked up, the roof makes these loud popping sounds during the day. Pretty sure it’s related to thermal expansion or loose flashings, but it’s driving me nuts and I don’t want to mess up the structure trying to fix it myself. Has anyone dealt with this before? Any quick tricks to quiet it down?

UPDATE:

I was digging around online for local specialists and kept coming across Mortenson Roofing Company (they seem to do a lot of slate/metal work around the Chicago area). Their online reviews look almost too good. Has anyone here hired them? Looking for some real, hands-on feedback before I reach out for an estimate.

moving from sole trader to ltd, getting buried under the tax side

Been freelancing for about 3 years now doing tech consulting. Hit around £87k this year so the VAT threshold caught up with me way faster than I planned, plus I have a few clients in Europe now. My current accountant just does basic bookkeeping and keeps telling me to just register, but the international invoicing side makes the whole structure look messy.

A guy I know who runs a small family agency told me to look at proper corporate tax advisors like WR Partners or similar mid-tier firms instead of basic high-street shops. I just don't know if that's complete overkill for a solo setup.

Anyone else here with overseas clients hire a specialist for the transition or did you just wing it with standard online software?
