Human rights violation
I called one of the Indian punjabi owned trucking company in Brampton on seeing their ad hiring truck drivers.
The hiring person with an Indian punjabi accent asked all the questions and soon realised that I am not Indian punjabi. He finally asked me what's your age? When I told him my age he without hesitation said we dont hire drivers over age 50.when I expressed shock,he quickly said its company policy and when he realised I was not buying that he changed it to its insurance policy.Insyrance company does not cover driversbover age 50.
I inquired around and found out that no insurance company in North America has any such policy. This would be human rights violation and age discrimination.
Its clear the discrimination is based on not being an Indian and punjabi.
My question is,should I take this to Human rights commission myself or hire a lawyer? How much compensation will be awarded to me for my suffering. In public interest I want this company penalised for their practise.
