First Time Visit ✅

First Time Visit ✅

About a week or 2 ago I made a post asking about Thorpe Park before my trip, so I just wanted to follow up now that I’ve actually been.

I went this past Monday for the first time visiting from out of the country. My home park is Busch Gardens Tampa, so I was interested to see how Thorpe compared.

It definitely felt like we picked the perfect day to go!

My biggest compliment is how operations were insanely good all day — multiple trains running on every coaster and dispatches were fast.

Completely different vibe from some local US parks where you feel like you’re waiting forever between trains, or they only run 1 train on slower days.

Most rides were 5-10 minute waits. Besides Hyperia which was about 20min.

We ended up doing:

Stealth x3
Hyperia x3
SAW x2
The Swarm x2
Nemesis Inferno x2
Colossus
plus a couple of their flat rides (which are a good variety, and are quite fun!)
We skipped the water rides because of the cool weather.

A day at Thorpe Park is great when the waits are low because the park is so compact. You can get from one side to the other in like 5–10 minutes max, so the whole day became; ride → short walk → next ride almost immediately

Compared to BGT, the coasters are definitely much shorter overall, but the operations and compact layout made the day feel nonstop. BGT has longer “journey” style rides, while Thorpe feels more like constant adrenaline hits back-to-back and then an abrupt end.

Also:
Hyperia absolutely is great, but man is that ride is too short. Very intense and the airtime is amazing, but it ends so quick. I wish it was about 20-30 seconds longer, and then I’d have it up there with Gwazi and Velocicoaster.
Stealth’s launch is ridiculous every single time
SAW was way more fun than I expected

Overall:
A very successful day and first time visit. A great park that is not as immersive as some big US parks, but they do have great theme areas. Thorpe Park is great with a wide variety of coasters and rides. I definitely plan to go back the next time I visit the UK!

First Time Visit

Me and the gf are visiting London and are looking into planning a few hours at Thorpe Park. What are the overall expectations this time of year?

Crowd sizes/wait times?
Are week days better than weekends?
Does colder weather affect anything?

I know Hyperia is the main attraction, but how are the other coasters/rides when it comes to operations?

Is it better going in the morning or the afternoon?

Any tips or suggestions would help! Thank you!!

Post Spring Break and pre MDW might be the best time to go!

Got through security around 7:45, rope dropped—but skipped Hagrid’s and went straight to VelociCoaster.

Morning:

- VelociCoaster x3 by 8:30!!

- Kong, Dudley (both walk-ons)

- Hulk - about 20min

- Doctor Doom, Spider-Man - 10 min each

Then hit Hagrid’s (posted 90 → actually waited 70!!), followed by Forbidden Journey and Seuss Trolley. Done with all that by 2pm!

Midday break:

Left around 2:30 and came back around 4:30

Evening:

- Hulk 2x

- Hippogriff

- VelociCoaster again!

Closed it out with Hagrid’s: Got in line at 7:30, ended up waiting about 50 min (they fly through the queue once the park closes)

Total:

- VelociCoaster: 4x

- Hulk: 3x

- Hagrid’s: 2x

- Plus Spider-Man, Forbidden Journey, Kong, Dudley, Seuss, Hippogriff

Post-Spring Break → pre-Memorial Day is the move if you can make it work!

Manageable crowds, rides operating at full capacity, and using EPA to your advantage is such a difference maker!!
