Corporate uncles and their inflated ego

Rant alert.

In just two years of my career, I've come across a very specific species of men.

Usually middle or upper management. 10+ years of experience. No real life outside work. Their job title isn't just what they do, it's who they are.

Now, the main rant: The moment a fresher or someone early in their career starts growing quickly, they get uncomfortable. Constructive criticism is one thing. But this isn't that. It's:
"You're nothing" "I've seen hundreds like you" "You're committing career suicide". They say all these in Hindi btw.

I've literally had an interviewer make personal remarks because I quoted a higher salary. Well brother if you don't have the budget just tell me. Why do you mean by "You and your 2 years of experience mean nothing to me" MY FOOT!

Maybe they're upset because our generation doesn't believe in toiling overtime for a minimum salary.

My message to these uncles: Gen Z has entered the workforce and respect is non-negotiable for us. The era of treating young professionals like they should be grateful for crumbs is ending. And I don't think that's a bad thing.

Any meetup groups?

Noticed there are a lot of meet-ups happening across Mumbai.

Are there any active meetup groups in Chembur where one can make good friends?

If yes I'd love to be a part.

Reels and uncle/aunties

What the heck is this obsession of watching reels on full volume. Every 40-50-ish person you come across watches AI brain rot with enough volume to make a dead person come back to life.

Somebody please introduce the concept of earphones to them so people can travel/work in peace.

This thing is taking over like an epidemic.

How do you guys deal with your parents being wrong yet rebellious?

Lately I've been parenting my mom a lot. Over the years, she has started behaving like a teenager. Rebellious, addicted to Facebook and stubborn .

She scrolls facebook like an addict, watches AI slop and believes it's real.......and don't even get me started on dhongi babas. She believes all the bullshit they utter.

When I try to correct her with logic and ask her not to believe everything she sees online, she defends everything with grit, like her life depends on it.

Similar is the situation with health, relations with other family members and over-all habits.

Frustrated would be an understatement if I were to describe how I feel. I want her to be just like the way she was before. Confident, logical and smart. But as she is growing old, she is turning into this really naive, rebellious and gullible teenager who trusts the online world more than her own blood.
