How would you describe an imsim to *someone who doesn't play video games*?

Hey guys, like all of you I enjoy immersive sims both big and small. Currently playing through Skin Deep and I'm having a great time so far.

My girlfriend sometimes watches me play it and we got onto the conversation of immersive sims after I brought up it's one of my favourite types of games. She asked me what exactly immersive sims are. I joked that "that's a running joke in the imsim community that nobody can agree on a definition" but attempted a fair definition of the term.

However, I quickly caught myself using terms and concepts like emergent gameplay, systems interacting with each other, dynamic AI etc and realised it was getting more complicated and confusing than it needed to be. I think these are ideas that a lot of gamers can wrap their heads around, but not necessarily someone who doesn't play video games.

How would you describe immersive sims if you were explaining to someone who doesn't really play video games and is perhaps unfamiliar with these concepts?

Letterboxd goes down WAY too much ever since the video store launched

I'm not saying the two are related, but it does feel like the app goes down a LOT more frequently ever since they introduced the video store back in December.

It's been twice in the last week I've wanted to go on there and had to wait hours for it to come back.

Prior to this, it felt quite rare for the app to go down. I feel like the load is just too much for whatever service provider LB is using.

I'm hoping whatever web/server issues they're experiencing, they're able to sort it out because it's getting frustrating, especially as a Patron user.
