This would be my first sks. Its going for 400 even. I dont mind it being a bit beat up and the missing components would be a good opportunity for me to fix things and learn more hands on but I thought I'd leave it to more knowledgeable folks to tell me if Im crazy for taking this on as a newbie. All Im seeing missing is the buttplate and bayonet which seem to be easy fixes
I currently have a mismatched Type 2 Arisaka (aside from a matching receiver and bolt) which you can view on my profile. The metal finish is in rough condition from a previous owner which Im considering getting reblued.
Last night, I came across a forum user who purchased a small lot of Type 2 parts, including a rear receiver assembly (no bolt) with a fully intact mum and much better overall condition, and am considering reaching out to see if they'd let me by it off of them.
I’m torn between keeping my rifle as is (especially matching bolt and reciever) or swapping in the better rear assembly with the mum. Im not a strict on the value part of collecting as I dont ever plan to sell. Any thoughts on my situation?
