Roku Senior Data Engineer- HackerRank CodePair Interview Tips?

Hey everyone,

I have an upcoming 60-minute technical interview for a Senior Data Engineer (8yoe) role at Roku. It’s a live, pair-programming session on HackerRank.

I’m looking for any advice from people who have been through this recently:

Is it mostly heavy SQL (window functions/optimization) or PySpark/Python data manipulation?

How does the difficulty level of the HackerRank CodePair round compare to standard LeetCode Medium/Hard problems?

Any tips on what they look for in a "pair programming" setting (e.g., communication style, handling system design-lite questions during the code)?

Would appreciate any insights you’ve encountered. Thanks in advance!

Maid hired directly after Pronto cleaning service — valuables worth ₹4 lakh+ missing. What should we do next?

About a month ago, a maid who worked through the Pronto house cleaning app started coming to our home twice a week for cleaning. Since she was doing a good job, we hired her directly.

Over the last month, we noticed several items going missing. First, I couldn't find my neckband earphones. Later, some cash that was kept in a drawer disappeared. We thought we might have misplaced them and didn't pay much attention.

Today, things became more concerning. We discovered that the key to a locked drawer containing jewelry, which had been kept in a different drawer, was missing. Since we could not locate the key, we approached a locksmith to open the drawer. After opening it, we found that some of the gold jewelry stored inside also appears to be missing. In addition, an expensive perfume has disappeared.

The total value of the missing items, including the jewelry, is estimated to be more than ₹4 lakh.

The only people with access to the house during this period were me, my wife, and the maid. No other visitors have come to the house.

We don't have direct proof, but the pattern is making us suspicious.

We have already filed a police complaint in Bangalore. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? What should we do next? Are there any additional steps we should take now that the complaint has been filed?

Thinking of switching to Takeda ICC (Bhartiya City) as a Senior Data Engineer – thoughts on culture/tech stack?

Hey folks,

I recently received an interview invitation for a Senior Data Engineer role at Takeda’s Innovation Capability Center (ICC) in Bhartiya City, Bangalore. I’m currently working at a similar, well-established GCC with good stability.

I wanted to get some honest insights from anyone currently working there or who has interviewed recently:

  1. Tech Stack & Work: How mature is their data infrastructure? Are teams genuinely working on modern data stacks (Databricks, PySpark, AWS/Azure, AI pipelines) or is it mostly legacy maintenance?
  2. Work Culture & Office Mandate: How strict is the 2-3 days office mandate? Is the work-life balance generally respected?
  3. Leaves & Shifts: I know they have a year-end company shutdown, but what does the standard Earned/Casual leave pool look like? Also, how heavy is the evening overlap/shift timing requirement for global (US/Europe) stakeholders?

Would love to know if making the jump from a stable GCC to Takeda is a good career move in terms of growth and tech exposure.

Thanks in advance!

Failed behavioural round due to over-explaining (6 YoE, senior software Engineer). Need advice

Recently got rejected in a behavioural/client-fit round. The feedback was that my communication style is too detailed, and I struggle with the concise information filtering and "rapid alignment" needed for fast-paced client workshops.

I have 6 YoE and currently work as a senior Engineer. I know the tech inside out, but in interviews, I end up over-explaining things like a fresher trying to prove I know the answer, instead of acting like a senior who just gives the bottom line.

How do I fix this? How do I unlearn this habit, stop rambling, and communicate concisely like a professional at the senior/leadership level? Any frameworks, resources, or mock interview platforms you'd recommend?
