Stop the Rudolph glazing

He's not him. He'll never be him. A career backup that was given an opportunity to be a starter and got benched. Why? Because he ain't him.

The narrative of him mentoring the young guys is also wild. What's he teaching them to do other than be a backup? A career passer rating of 84.7, a 1.3ish TD/Int ratio and a 9-9-1 record as a starter. He's played in 34 games and thrown a whooping 30 TDs, had 2, count 'em 2 rushing attempts in 6 years for 8 yds. Career Y/GM an abysmal 144.

Yes, we all loved when he stepped in for a broken Ben. Beyond that, he's been less than average. It's time to move on. Keeping him not only hinders the growth of 2 young guys, but it costs the team salary cap and may lead to one of the aforementioned to be cut, traded or relegated to the PS - where Rudolph himself belongs.

I'd be all for it, but... The way they keep spending and holding older player contracts, I just can't see having the cap space. Plus, it's not exactly a move to get younger. At the same time it could mean a true push in the draft and off-season to get star power, not just a bunch of good and aging #2s.

It'd be weird having an ex-Brown - yeah, yeah we had Haden - who could make us a real contender for a couple seasons during the search for a young franchise QB.
