Baking is always black/gray (and normal maps are just flat purple). What am I doing wrong?
Hey guys, I'm losing my mind trying to bake textures from a sculpted model and it keeps coming out completely black or gray.
Even when I try to bake a normal map, it just gives me a flat, light purple image with absolutely no sculpt details or shading on it.
I feel like I've checked everything:
- The UV map is clean.
- The face orientations are fine (everything is blue, no red faces).
- I have a new image texture node in my shader editor and I make sure it's highlighted/selected before I hit bake.
- I have actual lights and an HDRI in the scene, and it looks totally fine when I do a regular render.
- I tried changing samples from like 100 to 1000 and it still just bakes pure black.
I just want to bake the color and shadows onto the image so I can put it on a low poly model, but nothing is working. Does anyone know what hidden setting is messing this up? Thank you!
