Our mini Milo is 3 years old and we spend a lot of time outdoors. He often gets muddy and full of burrs. I have noticed that when he gets dirty, even when I don’t get him bathed immediately, within hours it’s like everything he was dirty with is on his bed and he looks perfectly clean! Is that because of their double coats or something else? Our lab/Mastiff needs a bath when he gets super dirty!
I just heard someone recommend Gene Wolfe, if I was to listen to/read some of his books, where should I start? I also saw Anthony Ryan The Covenant of Steel…any thoughts on that series? Or I could start Erikson’s Mazalan. I loved WOT, Red Rising, The First Law series, The Age of Madness series, Mistborn, The Licanius Trilogy and many of Micheal J. Sullivan’s books!
I would still consider myself new to fantasy/scifi and I am wondering if the types of books that led me to epic fantasy are actually considered part of the fantasy genre? One of my favorite authors is Mark Tufo.. he can have me laughing out loud and then crying in the same chapter. His writing is definitely not complex but his characters are so realistic they have become almost like friends! Anyways, he writes about zombies, Lycans, aliens, Yeti and parallel worlds but I never hear recommendations of dystopian type novels. All of this to ask, are apocalypse novels considered under the umbrella term fantasy?
I never read fantasy as a young woman but I somehow happened upon “Armageddon’s Children” by Terry Brooks and I went on to devour many of his books. I needed to move on to something new and over the last couple years I have listened to or read something from most authors that are recommended by others. I am curious why I never see any of his books recommended when someone asks for a fantasy read? I definitely would not rank his work as my favorite bc I feel like once you have read one of his series you know his “formula” and it gets repetitive. Mostly just interested in hearing what others think of his books?
