Fountain Advice

Asking for my elderly neighbor:

Has anyone used the RV Antifreeze (non-toxic) and then left their fountain full and pump running for the winter in this area? Or have you tried the trough heaters? Kinda want to do all three and give it try. But, it’s an expensive fountain and…well, it’s not mine.

She has a 4’ tall pottery fountain with disappearing in-ground basin. She lives in zone 8b in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. She can no longer winterize by emptying and bringing it inside so looking for options before winter.

TIA

Perennial Seed Question

Newbie to seeds. Live in South Salem.

My timing was poor and I already mulched with 2-3” of fine bark and now I want to try my hand at planting from seed.

  1. How would I go about planting seeds in the ground with do much mulch? Step-by-step, please and Thank you.
  2. Would it be more fruitful to start them in pots? I have a bunch of small pots and am happy to begin planting in them if that’s going to work best.

I appreciate any advice, and support, you can offer this newbie seed addiction!

Hunter Pro Spray questions

TIA. I have a couple very newbie questions about my irrigation system. It currently consists of Hunter head with a 4” pop-up. It was a new-build system and I have now added a lot of plants/bushes and need the pop-ups to come up higher. In my last house my sustem was designed specifically for the plantings so I had some pop-up as high as 24”. I am wanting to put that kind of customization into my current system.

  1. Is there a way to change out the pop-up nozzle to a taller one without changing the whole head?

  2. Can Rainbird heads be used interchangeably with Hunter heads?

I appreciate any an all guidance you can offer.
