I got tired of how bad Shopify search can be, so I built my own
I've been running a Shopify store for 3 years and we've done around 60k monthly visits and I've been thinking a lot about how much eCommerce is changing with AI.
One thing that kept bothering me was the search experience.
Customers don't always search for the exact product name. They'll type things like "Gift for mother's day that are trending and available for next day delivery" or "formal shirts that i can wear in summer heat" or "trekking boots under 200-250$", while traditional store search is still largely looking for matching keywords.
So I ended up building something to solve it.
It's called ReLUnit AI - an AI search layer for Shopify that understands the intent behind what customers are searching for rather than just matching keywords. It also has recommendations, dynamic filters and visual search.
It's still in the initial rollout, so I'm looking for Shopify store owners who are willing to try it for free and tell me what's useful, what's missing, and where you'd take the product.
I'm not looking to sell anything right now - we're genuinely trying to get feedback from people actually running stores.
