How do you not get sunscreen in your eyes!?

I'm 40 and am trying to use sunscreen more consistently, but I get it in my eyes like nearly every day.

When I apply it, I try not to go super close to my eyes. But then when I put undereye concealer on (necessary) I must be smudging it up very close to the lids. Then if my eyes water (often), or I rub my eyes, or anything along those lines it goes straight into my eye and I'm blinded for a while. Cry all my makeup off on the one eye... it's a whole mess.

I've taken to just wearing foundation that has 50SPF, but I don't always want a full face on.

Any tips?
