Urgently Need Summer Sublease Near Pitt/CMU

Hey everyone,

I’m an incoming transfer student at University of Pittsburgh and I urgently need a summer sublease near Pitt/CMU.

I just arrived in Pittsburgh and my current housing situation fell through, so I’m trying to move ASAP.

Looking for:

  • furnished room/apartment
  • summer sublease
  • private room preferred
  • near Oakland/Shadyside/Squirrel Hill preferred
  • move-in ASAP

Budget is flexible. At this point I mainly care about finding a comfortable and decent living situation.

If anyone has:

  • a sublease
  • lease takeover
  • roommate opening
  • apartment recommendations
  • housing group links

please DM me. Thanks.

Incoming Pitt transfer student urgently looking for short-term housing/sublet ASAP

Hey everyone,

I’m an incoming transfer student at University of Pittsburgh and I recently got screwed over with my housing situation after arriving in Pittsburgh.

I’m now trying to find a better short-term living arrangement ASAP, ideally within the next week or two.

I’m looking for:

  • furnished sublets
  • short-term leases
  • student-friendly apartments
  • private room preferred
  • near Pitt/CMU

Price honestly isn’t the biggest concern right now. I mainly care about finding something comfortable and reliable.

If anyone knows of:

  • available sublets
  • lease takeovers
  • good apartment buildings
  • housing groups/resources
  • or anyone trying to fill a room

please let me know. I’d really appreciate it.

Incoming Pitt transfer accepted into the Honors College, what should I realistically expect?

Hey everyone,

I’m an incoming transfer student at the University of Pittsburgh for Fall 2026 majoring in Philosophy, and I recently got accepted into the David C. Frederick Honors College.

I’m honestly really excited, but also kind of unsure what this actually means in practice beyond the title itself.

I had a few questions for current/former Honors students:

- What are the REAL benefits of the Honors College?
- Does it meaningfully affect your academic experience?
- Are there honors-only classes or seminars?
- How much harder are honors courses compared to regular ones?
- Is the workload manageable as a transfer student?
- How useful is priority registration actually?
- Are there research/networking opportunities people genuinely take advantage of?
- Does the Honors College community feel active/social, or is it mostly just an academic designation?

I’m especially curious from a humanities/philosophy perspective since most discussions I’ve found online seem STEM-focused.

Would really appreciate any insight, advice, or things you wish you knew before starting.
