No luck in the bay (SF Bay)

Been lure fishing, targeting Stripers and Halibut, early mornings (4am-7am) and late nights (10pm-1am) frequently for the past two months in the SF Bay around the peninsula with 0 luck.

I always check the tide and conditions, so I usually go when the conditions are great. Have not even got a bite. I see a bunch of other fishermen catching fatties in the same areas I fish. They’re almost always using live bait, which of course live bait is king, but it’s my dream to catch a fish with a lure.

I have a ton (more than whats included in picture) of Lucky Craft Minnows (110’s, 115’s, 130’s) and even paddle tails. Have never even got a bite. Is there something I’m doing wrong? I know it’s difficult with lures, but it feels almost impossible whenever I go.

Any tips help! :)

UFC Champ Justin Gaethje gives shoutout to EMS after win

In his post-fight speech after defeating Ilia Topuria, UFC Champ Justin Gaethje gives a huge thanks to all military personnel and first responders for putting their lives first for the country.

Being recognized for the service we provide is a not so common occurrence, so to be recognized and thanked for it is just very heart warming. So thank you to all of you out in the field for what you do!

How to fish this Lucky Craft?

Hi everyone! Got this beautiful Lucky Craft lure from Japan off a live bid for a great price.

Never seen it before, it’s a Lucky Craft Varid 90mm.

Anyone have a clue on how to fish this from the surf? Is this even a saltwater lure? Or is it too cute to use? Lol, LMK!

Bluegill or?

Caught this a little while back on a rooster tail. I feel like it’s either a bluegill or red ear.

(This was caught in Antioch, CA btw)

You tell me! Thanks

Pismo Beach Surf Fishing

Hey everyone! Going on a trip down south to San Luis Obispo, CA from the Bay Area, CA. Never been down there, so I’m planning on going to Pismo Beach and/or Avila Beach area.

What can I fish for there? Any rigs/lures that work better than others?

Please lmk! Thanks! :)

Hey everyone! Been wanting to catch a Striper and Surf Perch from shore but haven’t found any luck. I’ve been at it for the past 6 months and nothing. I am very productive on the Half Moon Bay Jetty though, but not from the actual shoreline.

I’ve been going 1-2 times a week at Ocean Beach, Maverick’s Beach, Baker Beach, etc. when I can and usually fish around 9am - 2pm.

What I use:

- Carolina Rig with shrimp, squid, or sand fleas

- Jerkbaits (SP Minnows)

-Soft Plastic Swimbaits (Keitechs on jig heads)

- Hi-lo Rig with shrimp, squid, anchovies or sand fleas. (I’ve only ever caught Jack Smelt with this set up)

To add, I use a 7’ and 9.4’ foot spinning rod/reel.

There’s a couple other rigs/lures I wanna try but I feel like the ones I’ve been trying should all hypothetically work. I keep catching leopard sharks and the occasional rock/dungeness crab that holds onto my hooks while I reel them in.

What am I doing wrong?

Light pocket dump today. Leatherman Wave+, Threads bifold wallet, and my beloved Casio Tide Graph/Moon Phase watch (which is not accurately programmed to my local area because I’m lazy
lol)

Honestly not in love with the wallet but if anyone has any thin vertical bifold wallets recommendations lmk!
