3 of 9 for my groomsmen
Found a deal on some Leatherman Bonds and bought 9 for my groomsmen, the lanyard is grosgrain ribbon with a custom sea glass bead and jeans rivet to hold it together.
Re: Lanyard/fob feedback
I understand where you’re coming from. So some context:
I’m getting married in the UK to a Brit and half of my groomsmen are not American so the lanyard is very tongue in cheek. I’m *super* American, grew up on a farm and say howdy an all of that. I can’t change that. This will very much scream “gift from tyler5280”
I included a note that talks through my gifts and acknowledges the controversy of the flag. Basically the pride I have for where I am from is mine and mine alone, I’m not jingoistic and I’m not immune to shame. I do like to think of myself as “one of the good ones” for what that is worth.
I’m hoping to be part of a future where America isn’t a laughing stock anymore. The recent olympics especially the women’s hockey and the Artemis II mission was the first time in years I’ve felt any kind of pride around being an American, so I tried to capture that in the gift I am giving to my groomsmen (they’re also getting NASA timex watches and some other space-nerd-stuff).
If you still want to laugh, please do. I’d be happy to hear more about where you’re coming from.

Fidgeting
Does anybody have the habit of carrying something in their pocket to carry around and fidget with all day? I had this habit since I was 3. Usually, I had small stuff like hot wheels, pretty rocks, coins, small plastic figurines, Lego etc. Now I am 21, I still have the habit of playing with a small silver coin or sometimes my kaweco sport. Having something in hand always gives me some sort of joy, but people find it awkward in public...
Night time wandering
Just got back from a peaceful nightwalk along the river. I got to watch the mist roll in from the sea and up coast on the drive home too.
