Had my first interview and wow, it was terrible.🤣

Yesterday had my first interview with a company and it was pretty rough. Looking for honest feedback and advice on how to improve quickly.

What went wrong:

Audio was bad so deep/cracking voice, very hard to understand on recording (most probably my voice is the issue)

Video looked terrible (orangey face despite ring light, dark background)

Phone fell during the call

Sudden power cut so WiFi dropped, had to switch to mobile data

Couldn't answer metrics questions well (open rates, reply rates, bounce rates)

Didn't close the meeting properly (interviewer ended it.)

His main feedback: "Learn to communicate properly"

Questions:

How important are these technical/setup issues vs actual sales skills in early interviews?

Best ways to practice communication, metrics, and roleplays on a phone?

Any other quick tips for someone in their first few SDR interviews?

Appreciate any advice especially from people who had terrible first interviews but still broke in. Thanks in advance!

19M cold email freelancer (zero clients in 5 months). Move for SDR/BDR role or keep solo?

Hey everyone,

I’m 19 and have been running a small freelance operation offering cold email outreach and lead generation for the last 5 months. No clients yet and my consistency has been shaky. I’m decent at writing sequences but struggling hard on the sales side (getting meetings, closing retainers).

I now have a chance to move to the capital (accommodation covered) and go after SDR/BDR positions. This would be my first real job.

Questions for you:

Is SDR experience valuable if my long-term goal is to run my own outreach agency?

How hard is it for a 19-year-old with only freelance (no corporate) experience to land an SDR role right now?

Any tips for a complete fresher targeting SDR jobs?

Would you recommend taking the job for 1–2 years to learn proper sales process before going back to freelancing?

Basically deciding between continuing solo or getting paid to learn sales in a structured environment. Brutal honesty welcome.

Thanks in advance!

19M: 5 months cold email outreach agency, zero clients. Keep bootstrapping or take SDR job in capital?

Hey entrepreneurs,

I’m 19 and started a small freelance agency offering cold email outreach & lead generation services. Been at it for 5 months but still have zero paying clients. My consistency hasn’t been great and closing deals is the hardest part for me right now.

I have an option to move to the capital (accommodation sorted through family connection) and pursue an SDR/BDR role. The idea is to get proper sales experience, earn while learning, and possibly restart the agency stronger later.

Questions:

Is 5 months with zero traction too early to pivot or should I push harder?

Many of you ran businesses — did any of you take a sales job early on to learn before going full indie?

Tips to get the first few clients fast if I continue freelancing?

Worth moving for corporate sales experience at this age?

I really want to build something of my own but I’m also realistic that I might be lacking real-world sales discipline. Looking for practical advice.

Appreciate it!

19M: Zero income after 5 months freelancing cold email agency. Move to capital for SDR/BDR job or keep going?

Hey everyone,

I’m 19 and have been trying to run a freelance cold email outreach service (lead generation for businesses) for the past 5 months. So far, zero clients and my efforts have been quite inconsistent. I do have the skills but I’m clearly struggling with getting sales and maintaining discipline.

I now have a decent opportunity:

Move to the capital and stay with my father’s colleague (accommodation covered) while I hunt for an SDR/BDR role. It would be my first proper job, structured environment, salary (even if entry-level), and learning sales professionally.

My main concerns (personal finance angle):

Is it better to have some stable income + experience at 19 rather than continuing with zero earnings?

How important is it to have that first job on the resume for future growth/switching?

Any realistic salary expectations for a fresher SDR in a metro right now?

Should I continue the agency on the side even if I take a job?

I’m torn between wanting independence/freelance income and the reality of having no money coming in. Would really appreciate honest advice from this community.

Thanks!

Advice needed: Continue solo cold email agency (inconsistent, no clients) or take SDR/BDR job after moving?

Hey everyone,

I'm 19 and I've been running a small freelance cold email outreach agency for the last 5 months. I help businesses with lead generation through cold emails. The problem is I have zero clients so far and my consistency has been poor. I'm good at the skill but struggling with sales, discipline, and getting the first few wins.

Now I have an option: Move to the capital and stay with my father's colleague (accommodation sorted) to hunt for an SDR/BDR (Sales Development) job. It would be my first proper job, structured environment, and I'd be learning sales full-time while earning.

Questions for you:

Should I keep pushing the freelance agency? (Any tips if yes, how to get the first clients faster?)

Or is moving for an SDR/BDR role smarter at this stage for experience, money, and learning?

How tough is it for a 19-year-old with no experience to land an SDR role in New Delhi right now?

Any other advice for someone in my position?

Really confused between independence/freelancing dream vs stability + learning curve. Appreciate honest opinions even if it's "you're young, just grind harder" or "get a job first".

Thanks!

All this while i thought I was decent until I saw myself

Was a taekwondo athlete, and used to practise it time to time for 7 years, then few months(6-7) started kickboxing on my made up punching bag.

All this while i thought I was okay, at least better than average and finally did a recording, turns out I'm way way way lacking. Everything looks wrong, conditioning worked but the form sucks.

Whats your view on it?

So for all those who are running smma, how do you get clients? Do you rely on referrals and word of mouths? Or insta dms? Does cold email outreach work for your case?

Just curious and would love to know what's your secret sauce.😋

Cheers, have a good day
