Bike fitting caused injury
I was dedicated to power zone training and thought I could optimize my bike fit because I wasn’t confident if I was in the optimal position.
I got a virtual bike fitting where they changed my position to be much lower and the seat back and handlebars up. To be honest, it felt great! I felt super powerful. But then after about a week or so I started getting a brand new lingering knee pain (inner side of knee cap). I chalked it up to new position and tried a few more weeks. By then it was a full injury that was with me all the time.
Doctor prescribed NSAIDS and time off, and months later it still reactivates if I get back on the bike. So I’ve given up. Super bummed. (Edit to add: I’ve tried adjusting my fit, my shoes, and my insoles. But I can’t find a sweet spot. And I strength train 2x per week.)
This is all to say that don’t take virtual bike fitting as gospel. If you start to feel an injury, stop and maybe consider trying your previous position if it didn’t cause issues.
