Pelodoctor Bearing Replacement

I've had the bike+ for about 5 years now. I bought the extended warranty. Over the extended warranty period, I've had the bearing replaced twice for free. After about a year, year and a half, it starts to click. Like clockwork, it's clicking again this week.

Well I've been out of warranty for over a year now and the repair now costs almost $300 to replace the bearing from Peloton.

I went ahead and ordered that pelodoctor bearing based on some YouTube videos and old posts on here.

The last thread about it is about 3 years old and I was curious if anybody has some recent feedback on it. Replacing it doesn't look too difficult. I'm going to assume that since my bearing was already replaced twice, the bolts won't be overly tight and won't be at risk of stripping.

Peloton Workspace Evolution for a WFH cyclist.

Over the past several years I've adjusted from my riding style from a zones 3-5 indoor bike to a strong zone 1/2 higher-resistance/lower cadence Peloton workspace. I work from home and prefer to have scenic Peloton rides while I work (Zone 2) & participate in conference calls (Zone 1).

Here's my evolution over the past 6,000-ish relatable miles:

  • Pre-2021: Under-desk cycle, right concept for me but hated the configuration so seldom used.
  • 2021-2024: Graduated to a Peloton and often demo'd a small wooden desktop that laid over the handlebars. Pedals changed to flats & saddle changed to a Brooks indoor model.
    • Overall it worked but I'm not a fan of working from a laptop for extended sessions, ended up getting sore wrists.
  • 2024-present (mid-2026): A backwards facing Wahoo cycling desk standing over a lowered Peloton handlebars. 43" 4k tripod monitor that's positioned directly above the touchscreen. This allows me a nice single monitor along with cordless keyboard and mouse on the Wahoo.
    • Overall, it's a great proof of concept but the desk wobbles at it's peak height and feels/looks cheap, plus it's a pain to keep clean. The 10" x 24" usable desk space feels cramped with a trackball mouse & small Mac keyboard.
  • Current evolution concept:
    • Ergh, kindly further modify the Peloton. Being a handyman/techy dude with a tape measure: Obtain a narrow & very sturdy stand-up desk, which would position over front of the Peloton's frame and my knees as I pedal. The handlebar/screen mount would be removed as no longer necessary. The touchscreen cleverly hides a standard 4" VESA tv mount, so I'm hoping to have just enough cable to re-mount to a VESA monitor stand, clamped to the desk.

Has anyone tried an under stand-up desk concept before or am I entering unchartered waters?

Edit: I recall my wrists getting sore during extended sessions when using the wooden tray. It's much like holding your hands out straight, with limited wrist/forearm rest, for an hour +.

Strava Connection Disappeared

My peloton iPhone app has been connected to Strava for years and yesterday it stopped connecting and automatically sharing activities to Strava.

It’s still connected if I log in via the one peloton website. I now have to manually share my activity to Strava on my laptop which is an extra step I’ve never had to do.

There is no option for Strava when I go to my app’s settings Connected Apps & Devices page.

Only options are Apple Health, Garmin Connect, and Fitbit under apps and Apple Watch and Peloton HR Band under Devices.

Anybody have the same issue and know how to fix it?

Thanks!!

Workaround for comparing similar runs or rides?

(Forgive me if this has been discussed recently; I couldn’t find anything.)

I would like to be able to compare my runs (or rides). Does Peloton provide any option for filtering your workout history by time? (And if not, why not?!)

Just trying to figure out a better way to compare output and mileage from workout to workout without having to scroll through my workout history.

Thank you!

Struggling to regain fitness - what should I focus on first?

Hi team, I (30s F) am a fairly active person in my free time but I work a desk job and have been struggling recently with feeling properly fit. I’m super stiff, I have lower back pain sitting at my desk, my cardio needs improvement, and I don’t feel at my strongest in general. I want to improve my cardio (bike), strength, flexibility (yoga), and core strength for my back (Pilates) but this feels like too many things to focus on and I end up taking a random assortment of classes and not improving anything. Alternatively I go full on and do too much and end up with joint pain, overuse injuries etc.

Any suggestions on how to approach rebuilding my fitness more methodically? Should I pick one thing to focus on first and does it matter what?

I ride horses 2-3x a week and so realistically have time for 1 hr sessions 3-4x week. Any ideas, recommendations, experiences would be so helpful!

Where and what to do next?

Hi all,

I hope I can get some direction, I want to know where I should move next in my peloton journey.

I have been riding consistently since about November of last year, 6 to 7 days per week. I also stretch 7 days per week 10 to 20 minute stretching.

I started doing lane break 15 minute rides, started at beginner did the 103 of those rides, then moved on to intermediate (or whatever the next level up is) did all 103 of those. I then moved onto low impact with Ben Aldis, because somewhere on here someone said they like Ben for stretching, so I did his 10 minute stretches, liked him decided to try real classes and started with the low impact.

Now I am thinking I want to go to the next step. I don't necessarily have to stay with Ben, or with low impact I just don't want to jump to something too hard and burn out.

Any suggestions?

What are the metal flakes on my peloton wheel?

Finished a workout this morning and went to wipe down my bike and realized there were metal flakes on the wheel.
I have to admit I haven't done a lot of maintenance and have the bike a few years now.
What should I be doing on a regular basis when it comes to adjustments or replacement of parts that wear down?

Better shape with peloton vs lifting in gym

Has anyone done both consistently for a period of time and when did you feel like you were in better shape and stronger.

I am 27F and I have been lifting in the gym for a couple of years, some points in time I’ve had great consistency and diet but never have looked as great and be in as good of shape as when I did peloton for 2 years straight.

Granted I was 21-23. I worked out 5 days a week, their strength classes 3-4 days a week and cycle 3 days a week.

I feel like I got caught up in the trend that you have to lift HEAVY and that peloton strength is “bad” or looked down on.

Has anyone else has a similar experience? I can’t tell if I’m making this up in my head or not.

Update*

Thank you all, it’s really helpful to hear feedback and perspective. I am consistent in the gym but definitely don’t push myself hard or I avoid certain muscle groups like quads or chest. I do really like the gym and lifting, but there’s something fun about peloton strength and cycle and it also help that I can accomplish more in a shorter time… unfortunately I have a 5 day in office job so 45 minutes or less is great. I think I am going to try to keep 1 heavy weights day for my lower body and glutes and use peloton strength for my other days.

In terms of goals I want to lean out a bit and increase my cardio, I am getting married in a year and want to feel and look great. But I also would love to get back into sports, racing and other activities that I think the Peleton class structures will help with.

Thank you all!

Is OpenPelo the way to go without a subscription?

I have been using Peloton for a few years and I have loved the convenience of pushing my workouts straight to Apple Health, using the heart rate on my watch, etc. I generally just ride at a casual pace and watch Netflix or YouTube though. Recently, my financial situation has changed and I simply cannot justify $600 a year to have convenient Apple Health tracking. Is OpenPelo the way to go? Does anybody have a setup that works well for tracking workouts and integrating with Apple Health? All I want to do is ride casually and watch dumb YouTube videos.

Bike Outside? Is it really that bad?

Ok so I know I know I know I know that putting the bike outside is bad for it. That said…

If the alternative is getting rid of it… and these things only go for about $200 used at best in my area…

*I might be putting the bike on a covered porch in Southern California.*

Has anyone done this? Knowing that it voids the warranty yadda yadda. Do you think it could last a couple of yrs before giving up if properly cleaned?

More efficient PZ cycling programs

So I've gotten more into pz training and have been over in r/cycling to see what they're doing.

For the most part their workouts really aren't all that similar to what the pz training programs and instructor do on peloton. Most have a lot more in common with a traditional weight lifting workout e.g. 3 x 10 minutes (at 88 percent of ftp) with 3 minutes z1 in between. Or maybe 5 x 3 minutes of z4 with 3 minutes z1 in between. Usually these are proceeded by am extensive warmup so there is probably a good 20 to 30 minutes of riding beforehand, most in z2. Now some of the Pz classes can be similar but most tend to be a lot less intense and also the programs themselves can sometimes seem a bit thrown together.

Id like to follow some of the programs the outdoor cyclists follow to improve ftp and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to do it. Do I just need to do a freeride and manually adjust? Or are there some specific rides or programs I should be looking at? I've done all the normal peloton pz programs e.g. discover you pz, peak your pz etc. I tend to just do build your pz program or the reddit pz program (which is amazing) and do a ftp test on between, but I'd like something even more structured.

Any suggestions on how to do this?

For those who have done HiLit and RK’s 5 day split…

Which did you like better? I did HiLit when it launched and loved it and after several months of piecing together a program, I think I want to do a dedicated program again. I am torn between the two.

RedditPZ training program - Week 9 Discussion Thread

Week eight down, and on to week nine! Use this thread to discuss this week's rides (or last weeks). Add the hashtag #redditPZ if you would like to.

Congratulations to everyone who finished (all or part of) the program!! Huge thank you to everyone who joined in (new and old members). Next program will start on Monday, June 8th if you all want to continue riding with the group. I will post the program / sign-up thread for the next round in 2 weeks, so be on the lookout!

This week is a de-load week to do some endurance and let our bodies recover before the next FTP. Make sure you are rested up before the re-test. Personally I like to take an easy 30 min PZE ride or maybe a 20-30 minute scenic ride keeping it in zone 2 the day before. Re-testing is not a requirement, but if you feel your fitness has changed (for better or for worse), I would go ahead and get it done. Not everyone will have increases, and that is totally okay and sometimes normal.

Again thank you all for joining in the program with me! I hope you all had fun and got fitter. Be sure to let us know how the next FTP goes!

Link to join our Discord.

Group Ride for the Saturday rides is at 10 AM central.

(Gala-papa would like to note to start the ride at 9:59 exactly so you will begin at 10 after the 1 minute countdown). Also do not join the ride in a session.

Summer warm up sale

I have never really paid attention to the Peloton’s sale but I am interested in buying a treadmill, but I am not loving the delivery times! (I live in San Diego and they are 3+ weeks out). When I look on Amazon they have the tread available for delivery and setup as soon as Tuesday, but they don’t have the sale prices. Does Amazon and Peloton sales prices usually match up at some point or should I just order from Peloton and wait?

Update: Ordered from Peloton. Called jbhunt when they opened and they moved my date. They are delivering it Thursday (they only deliver Monday and Thursdays in my area and today is Monday) :) Thank you all !
