Bought a Year of Omega, Have 21M SP, and Still Feel Lost
I want to play EVE, but I can never seem to stick with it. I’ll get the urge to play, log in for a few days, then end up stopping again.
For some background, I bought a one year Omega subscription last year when it was on sale. My thinking was that even if I took breaks, I’d come back later with more skill points and more options available. I’ve also joined EVE University and attended about four classes so far.
I still watch EVE videos on YouTube, and they always make me want to jump back in. The problem is that once I log in, I struggle to find momentum and keep playing.
Most of my skills are focused on mining, gas harvesting, scanning, and exploration. I also trained an alt account to fly an Orca, although that account’s Omega time has expired. My main character is sitting at around 21 million skill points.
What interests me the most is wormhole space. I’ve invested a lot into scanning and hacking skills because exploration and wormholes seem like the most exciting part of the game to me.
The last time I stopped playing was about a month ago after losing a 500 million ISK ship in the Abyss due to a disconnect. Looking back, I probably shouldn’t have been flying something that expensive in the first place. I was trying to be as efficient as possible, but it ended up backfiring.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Any advice for getting hooked on the game and actually sticking with it? I’d appreciate any suggestions.
