Transfer case is toast

2022 Turbo Premium with just over 50k. I had a rubbing/grinding noise for a bit, but assumed it was the brakes that needed fixing as they were due for replacement. Had the brakes done this morning. The mechanic called and informed me that there was still a “roaring” sound due to the rear differential.

Managed to get a dealer appointment immediately after, somehow. Thanks, universe. The dealer diagnosed the issue as the transfer case. Replacement part is on back order until March. Should hear back from the dealer tomorrow about the long term plan, but horrified about the prospect of having to figure out alternative transportation for the next 6+ months if they won’t provide a car.

Has anyone else dealt with something like this, and did you have any luck with Mazda providing transportation while waiting on the part? 😬

The one upside is that, at least for a couple of days, I’m in a brand new TPP. It drives like a dream.
