Dyslexia teachers (and students)

Dyslexia teacher here - I have a regular dyslexia class (middle school) and also a tutoring period at my school. for the tutoring period, I’m trying to come up with something fun. Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down and so forth.

Does anyone out there know any fun activities/games that make the time effective and enjoyable? Thanks!

Weekend Work

I always have work to do on the weekend - no avoiding it (documentation and report writing).

Would it be better to:

Knock it out in one long block

or

Work/break/work/break, etc.

Unclaimed Funds in Texas

How hard is it to collect unclaimed funds in Texas? I found a small amount through the state website. I want to start working on it, but, IN GENERAL, how much of a time commitment is it? Does it vary depending where the money is coming from? Total noob at this……

Sorry - one more question!

My son has been accepted to Landmark. We are excited because it could be the best fit for him. The price (as you know) is considerable.

Any advice on how to make it more affordable? Anything regarding grants, scholarships, loans would be greatly appreciate.

Meal Plans

We’re looking at meal plans. what would current or former Landmark students recommend?

Would it be better to get more on campus meals or more towards “Dining Dollars”?

“I insist on discussing something you clearly don’t.”

How does everyone deal with family members who insist on discussing topics you really don’t want to?

Mostly along the lines of topics they have strong, inflexible opinions on? I don’t mind a discussion or a light debate, but when it’s, “listen to me rant and then agree with me.” it’s annoying.

Paperwork

Dyslexia interventionist here - any tips on how to tame the paperwork monster? I have to spend so much time on compliance paperwork I feel like I’m missing out on time to come up with new ways to engage the kids.
