Testing out the cheapest diy method

Testing out the cheapest diy method

So I recently tried out the super cheap DIY route of using an aquarium pump with a simple bucket of water, as mentioned in Adam Davenport’s YouTube video where he exhaustingly analyzes, various mattress cooling methods:

After my first night of sleeping on top of it, can honestly say that it’s too cold with room temperature water.

The idea is simple:
you put water in a bucket, and the pump fills up the mattress topper you can buy from a mattress-cooler.com (which is only $35). The pump is from Amazon (I got for $10). The bucket, I just had laying around for this test - and will probably get a m 5 gallon bucket with a lid to make something more permanent.

You start with room, temperature, water, and your body heat heats up the water over overtime. I honestly had to shut it off and put another blanket on top of it because it was too cold.

I think in the future, I might add an aquarium heater to try and keep the water stabilized at a perfect temperature (I have yet to decide what this temperature for me will be for me)

Putting this all together into a raspberry pie or something like that sounds like a fun project, but I don’t have time for that. Figured it would be good to just show people that you can get pretty serious results with almost no money.
