"Is that leather?" - What's your go-to response when people confuse latex with PVC or leather?

To anyone outside our world, anything shiny gets grouped into "leather" or "plastic."

When someone non-initiated points at your outfit and asks what it is:

  • Do you give them the full scientific lecture on vulcanized tree sap and silicone oil?
  • Do you just smile, nod, and say "yeah, something like that"?
  • Or do you hit them with the "it's liquid rubber, don't touch!"?

What’s the funniest confusion you’ve encountered?

Thinking of buying this latex dress... how would you style it?

I’m really tempted to buy this dress. I love the simple black look, but I’m not sure what accessories would suit it best. I’m thinking long gloves, a thin choker or silver earrings...

Would you keep it minimal or add something more dramatic? Also, anything I should know about fit or comfort before buying?

The day my corporate career nearly ended because of a latex catsuit and a surprise Zoom call

It was a Friday afternoon, a remote work day, and my calendar was completely clear. Naturally, I decided it was the perfect moment to get dressed up.

Squeezing into my form-fitting latex catsuit (0.4mm thick, entry via the neck) is a full-body workout. It took 15 minutes of effort, sliding, and a generous amount of silicone lubricant, but I finally managed it. I polished it to a mirror-like shine.

Then, a Slack notification pinged.

My boss was calling: "Listen, there’s an urgent client meeting. Hop on Zoom with your camera on in two minutes."

Panic.

Getting out of a fresh, heavily lubricated latex suit requires at least 10 minutes of grueling struggle. If I tried to rush, I’d tear the collar. I had to make a tactical decision.

I grabbed my most formal, high-collared office blazer, threw it right over the catsuit, and wrapped a thick silk scarf around my neck to hide the edge of the latex collar.

I joined the call. Everything was going great. But then, I reached for my coffee cup.

The moment I moved my arm, the friction between the latex sleeve and the blazer’s synthetic lining created a loud, piercing squeak that the microphone picked up instantly.

Everyone stared at me in bewilderment.

I tried to subtly shift my posture to look casual. I sat motionless for the remaining ten minutes of the call, barely breathing and answering questions like a marble statue.

My final touch of 'mirror shine' turned my entire living room (and my dog) into a frictionless nightmare

I need to share the absolute chaos that unfolded in my living room last night during the final stage of getting dressed.

I was fully suited up in my favorite black catsuit, looking like a total matrix rockstar. The only thing missing was that final, blinding mirror gloss. My hands were already a bit slick with dressing aid, but I picked up my favorite bottle of pure silicone lubricant to buff the chest panel.

Big mistake.

As I applied pressure, the bottle squirted out of my hand like a wet bar of soap. It performed a trajectory across the room, leaving a perfect arc of oily splatter before landing directly in the middle of a thick-pile beige area rug.

The real disaster struct 10 seconds later.

My Golden retriever, Buster, who is always obsessed with "helping," heard the bottle drop. He bounded into the room, hit the fresh silicone slick on the rug, and instantly lost all traction. He didn't just slide; he accelerated. He became a glossy, confused, four-legged projectile, pinballing off the coffee table and knocking over a floor lamp.

I tried to rush over to help him, but I forgot that my own glove-encased feet were now coated in the overspray from the bottle launch. I stepped off the rug onto the hardwood floor and performed an accidental split that I didn't know my body was capable of.

We both survived, but the rug is now a permanent speed-skating rink 🤣

How do you stop dust and pet hair from sticking to your latex while drying?

Every time I wash my gear and hang it up to air dry, it seems to act like a giant static magnet for every single speck of dust, lint, and pet hair in the room. By the time it’s fully dry, it looks fuzzy before I can even apply talc or silicone shine.

Where do you guys hang your wet latex to keep it completely lint-free? Do you dry it inside the shower stall, use a specific room, or is there a trick I’m missing?

Any hacks would be amazing, thanks!
