My Energon Universe collection so far! Plus, a newcomer series and a blind bag surprise…

I’m feeling in the mood to show you all what I have in my Energon Universe comic collection as of now, since we’re getting into this shared universe series so much.

First, I have a stack of ten comic volumes that collects some issues in each of them, all making up unique story arcs inside every paperback to look inside and read anytime. They’re not in chronological order, but here’s what I have…

* VOID RIVALS Vol. 1: More Than Meets the Eye
* COBRA COMMANDER: Determined to Rule the World
* SCARLETT: Special Mission
* G.I. JOE
- Vol. 1: The Cobra Attacks!
- Vol. 2: Bludd’s Revenge
* TRANSFORMERS
- Vol. 1: Robots in Disguise
- Vol. 2: Transport to Oblivion
- Vol. 3: Combiner Chaos
- Vol. 4: Conquer and Control
- Vol. 5: Generation One

I’m still working on completing my entire collection of EU comics, most particularly the ones found together in paperbacks, because of two reasons. One, I’ve only recently started on doing so this year as a Transformers fan. And two, I just absolutely love how one comic book issue after another can be read from one book, and how it easily grants me with more than just comic to collect separately.

Secondly, three Energon Universe Special issues, each one from the year 2024, 2025, and 2026. I know there are some stories in each of them, like spotlights, one-shots, short setups, new series prologues, that are already in the paperback volumes. But I just love the anthological feel of them. And that’s what’s great about them—it makes things easier if you want a quick read without having to track down exactly where a chapter fits in the larger narrative of each volume. Looking forward to finding an Energon Universe 2027 Special issue!

Thirdly, I’ve got myself a M.A.S.K. #1 (Really good story, BTW). One that’s a cover B variant. I’m not super-familiar with the M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) series, characters, and lore like I am with Transformers and G.I. Joe. But I’m hooked with this! It’s to my understanding that it’s trademarked by Hasbro, and therefore, has been part of a shared universe comic series done by IDW Publishing before Skybound got around to starting on its Energon Universe series, which began with Void Rivals.

I’ve recently began searching for more M.A.S.K. comics with the “EU” mark on the top left, just to see when another issue will come each month. And I saw that there will be a paperback version called “M.A.S.K. Vol. 1: The Ultimate Weapon.” According to online books & comics stores, that won’t be around until the 2nd of February next year. So, I’m just gonna settle with getting each issue of Energon Universe’s M.A.S.K. until that’s been released and I’m ready to sell or trade those said issues.

And fourthly, I’ve purchased my M.A.S.K. #1 blind bag, and the surprise comic book I pulled was… ROM #1! And it’s a foil cover edition, too. This is one of the three surprise comics—along with M.A.S.K. Origins and M.A.S.K. #2 (ultra-rare advance edition)—and hoped that I get this one, which I certainly did while expecting the blind bag to either contain a brand-new Rom comic or something else. Talk about blind luck!

This is another Hasbro-related comic book character I’m not familiar with, but a local comic store owner filled me in on Rom the Space Knight. He told me that Rom started as an action figure created by the Parker Brothers. Marvel Comics writers Bill Mantlo and Sal Buscema wrote Rom’s backstory, created Galador as his homeworld, and made the Dire Wraiths his archenemies. There were 75 complete issues of the Rom: Spaceknight comic series, which ran from December 1979 to February 1986. Hasbro owns the intellectual rights to Rom ever since it acquired Parker Brothers in 1991. Then, in 2023, Marvel eventually got the reprint rights for its Rom: Spaceknight comics after coming to an agreement with Hasbro, and published hardcover omnibuses of the series’s original 1979–1986 run.

Keep the EU coming, Skybound team!

That’s all for now! I’ll let you know what else I’ve added to my Energon Universe. Maybe sometime in the next few days, a week, or so. Otherwise, feel free to comment on what you recommend me getting next. Till all are one!
