I’am wondering how long I should give space for / and how I should take what was said after receiving the below text on 27th June 2026 from a girl I was dating? (I’m naturally a bit of an over-thinker). We got a long really well and I really enjoyed my time with her. I understand the need for space and everyone takes a death of a family member differently and she was close to her grandad and the passing was sudden (19th June). In response I told her I’d happily reconnect and reassured her that it’s something I’d happily do. We haven’t spoke since the 27th June 2026 and it’s almost three weeks of no contact and I was thinking of reaching out at the end of Week 3 (which would be a month since the passing but probably only a week or two after the funeral so still fresh, and three weeks after receiving the message) but I don’t know if that’s too soon or should I at least wait until the Week 4 mark and what should I say?

“I’m so sorry for the silence I’ve just had a really bad few days. Things have just been a bit crazy and I’m really struggling since losing my grandad, feel so so bad I’ve not been replying or able to see you but I’ve just tried to be there for my mum etc. I had such a great time with you but I think at the moment my life is just a bit crazy, could we maybe put a pin in things and maybe reconnect soon? I get it if not but I just don’t want to commit to anything or anyone while I feel like this still”. xx
