Advice
My husband and I have had a crested gecko for about four years now. We got him as a baby and moved him up from a little juvenile baby tank to an adult tank when he got older only to realize that the adult tank was too small for him still. We bought an absolutely massive tank with plans to set it up as a bioactive, and it’s been sitting in our living room not even removed from the box for over six months now. It’s been feeling like our ability to care for him has been waning over the years. His current tank is in a state of… dishevelment, to put it mildly. I think I already know the answer to this question, I just need to hear it from someone else who knows more than we do. Should we try to salvage this and push ahead with making a bioactive tank in the hopes that it is less effort to maintain, or should we rehome him and let him go to someone who can care for him properly? To be clear to mods, we are NOT trying to advertise for rehoming in this post, just seeking advice on whether or not it is the best course of action in this situation. The rehoming, should that be what we decide to do, WILL be done on appropriate websites.
