Can someone explain the job filters when you have multiple jobs?

I have tried several times to figure this out but I keep delivering stuff to the wrong places.

I assumed from left to right was job1, job2, job3 so I order the stock for job1 and it delivered it to job2 construction site. I have no idea what 1a, 2a, and 3a are.

Bulldozer is almost useless in this game.

The way they made the earthwork projects with an indestructible bottom has made a bulldozer just a waste of time. The only thing I use mine for is to rip the soil when directed.

I started off using it for each task that required topsoil removal but soon realized that all you are doing is moving the soil around with no gain on the task. It does not even do it cleanly. You often need to go over the same ground multiple times.

The tasks for dirt removal operate on volume...lets say you have a task with 10 truck loads of dirt to remove. You can fit about 5 loader buckets worth of soil in a truck. You can spend an hour pushing the dirt into a big pile in the middle and then use the loader to pick and dump it 50 times from the pile or you can just use the loader initially to pick and dump the 50 buckets right from the start without the dozer...and it does it cleaner and more effectively. The fact that you can just drop the loader bucket on the ground and push forward without any error means that it is just better at the task than the machine that was built to do that job.

Just my little rant, feel free to ignore me.

Feeling cheated again... :(

I started building the stadium today. First portion of the site is to build the grandstand on one teams side. I got to the site and looked around and I think I actually started salivating seeing how big the place was...knowing that there would be several more parts to this project.

I was several sub-parts into the project before I noticed that a whole other part of the site was building itself in pace with the steps I was doing. Like, REALLY? WHY?

This is a construction simulating game. I have the settings as high as they will go.

WHY AM I NOT BUILDING THAT?

Anyone who has any experience in construction whether professionally or DIY knows there is like a bug we have...the bug that gives up that hit of dopamine when you complete something, when you succeed, accomplish, slap that bish and say "That ain't going nowhere". I think my biggest gripe with this game is the autocomplete of tasks. You are stealing my enjoyment.

Not for everyone I understand...that is why there are other settings. I chose hard.

What is your goto backhoe or excavator for smaller jobs?

I have the CAT 394F for the big stuff and I am comfortable with it. I also have the starter backhoe but I hate it. The way it regurgitates soil all over the place drives me nuts.

What is your goto digger for smaller stuff like sapling holes or small footing excavations in tight places where it does not make sense to bring in the big boy?

I would also like it to be useful for moving small items like rocks, logs or saplings into place.

Is there such a thing as a hollow PVC 2" X 4" X 8' ?

I built a fence about 8 years ago. Each panel has (3) 2"X4" rails supporting the slats, plus an additional 2"X4" top rail laid flat. The top rails have gotten beaten up in the sun and done some warping.

I am curious if there are 2"X4" hollow core PVC "boards" similar to the hollow 4"X4" sleeves they use as posts for the vinyl fencing.

I have not been able to find hollow, and the solid recycles stuff is quite pricey.

I am looking to replace just the top rail which is very non structural.

Which sites allow you to dig very deep?

There was a post about 9 months ago where someone was talking about digging a quarry. No particular reason...just felt like playing around. wb-martin had posted in that reddit that you could dig down 50 meters there. I was wondering if anyone knew what other sites would allow you to dig down that far. I have not found one yet and that site I have already completed.

So far I have found sites that only allow you to dig as far down as the deepest excavation task within the mission. I don't know why the one in the post would be different or what criteria determines that it could.

Bulk Material storage...I would like one.

I have yet to use my warehouse for anything besides my large concrete bucket.

While mentioning the bucket, I have never seen one in person nor seen one used...maybe this thing is entirely accurate based on research...but it would be considerably more convenient if the trap door was on the bottom and the concrete just dropped straight out.

Now back to the real post.

I would be much more apt to make use of a storage yard for bulk materials like dirt, sand, and gravel. It irks me to store my truck half full of gravel and have it sold, then to need more of it on the next job site. When we get to the medium company upgrade and we move into the new company premises we now have the smaller old yard just sitting there doing nothing but receiving vehicles pulled out of storage if your job is nearby.

It would be phenomenal if we could pay for an upgrade like the gas station or workshop that turns some of the parking stalls into walled bays like you see at a mulch or gravel yard where instead of selling bulk back to source we could opt to store it on site and have it available for future jobs.

Thanks for reading.

Geotechnical report said we had unsuitable material for road compaction...

It all had to go.

My family thinks I may have a problem...The contractor says this is perfectly normal...just let'em cook.

Side note for devs if you happen to peek in...there seems to be a glitch if you make first contact with one of the dig boundaries from the wrong side it creates this weird dirt curtain that behaves like the mission/job parcel boundaries.

This made getting the site to 99% very interesting

Corrugated Steel panels lost underground...what do?

Putting the sheet metal walls on the sides of a warehouse. I like to take my time and try to turn and place the panels as close as possible to the correct position before I hit release. Twice out of the full set the image turned back to blue just as I was releasing the panel and instead of getting installed they just fell over onto the ground and disappeared into the ether.

I have shut down the game and gotten back in and they have not returned to the surface or the original stacking location. I also got a "cloud error" from steam pop-up after the game closed.

Is there anything I can do besides skip the task to move forward?

Fueling vehicles on a trailer

When I fuel or repair my truck/trailer with vehicles on it sometimes I get two charges, sometimes three...almost never 4. I thought the third charge was for the secured vehicle, but I am recently figuring out that it never was. Are the vehicles on board not supposed to be fueling/repairing? I have to drive into fuel box, fuel truck, get charged three times even though trailer does not use fuel, unsecure the load, climb in each one, fuel them individually, secure them back to trailer (which often won't even work for one if there are two even though I didn't move anything) then drive to the repair box and repeat that process.

Does not feel intended.

Carry objects with a moving vehicle?

I have not found one yet other than the tracked excavator, but is there any vehicle that can hook and move objects without needing to have the stability supports extended? I am just looking to haul the small rocks and logs and stuff, the "A" loads without needing to be stationary. Don't want to bring the giant excavator on site to move a few rocks.

I don't know why they won't let you hook with the loader buckets.

Feel like I want one more level of difficulty to choose from

Still got half that row of pvmt left to put down? nope 100%.

That last strip of compacting is ok to just let it go...100%

Don't worry about that last 20% of the dirt in the basement, your good, 100%

We gonna magically show you a nice parking lot in front of the building while your paving equipment sits in the shop yard.

Jokes aside, I feel somewhat annoyed at times when I don't get to complete the whole task or there are elements added to the site (particularly at the end) that you easily could have taken part in that were not part of the job. I would not mind an "ultra" mode, or "completionist" or something where 100% takes like 97% or 98% actual completion to get to rather than the current, what, 80% maybe even less on some tasks?

There seems like a lot more materials that could be delivered or concrete poured, pavers unpacked, trees planted etc. I get it, not for everyone, keep the current levels, I just am not in any hurry and working finer details on the end of the job gives more of a vibe of accomplishing something in my opinion.

I also know I am just spitting in the wind with the advent of the new game coming...they won't be changing anything haha. Just voicing an opinion.

This is a small site and I am at 99%. The bigger the site the more off it feels.

Trouble with drilling machine...

I finally figured this damn thing out. I played the US map a couple years ago when the game was new and tried and tried to get this drill to work and failed over and over. I eventually just started skipping the drill tasks all together.

This time I am playing in Europe map and I am on the last mission for the Entrepreneur doing the bridge. I was determined to learn this machine. I watched multiple videos and read every post I could find about people having issues. I tried everything they said and nothing seemed to work. I kept getting stuck just under the 35% or 75% thresholds for each pipe section.

This is what finally did it for me in the current game...I say current because maybe they changed stuff from the old vids or posts along the way. I am using a controller on default settings for the drill so your controls may vary.

  • Roll up to the drill site from whatever side seems the flattest. Make sure your rig is on level ground by lowering your hook and seeing that it hangs at the same plumb as your drill tower. Any slant and you should reposition.
  • Hook the first casing pipe (the one with the yellow band near the teeth).
  • Lift it up and maneuver into position over the hole. Press "A" when the image turns green.
  • Use "B + Left thumb stick" to lower your drill tower forward about half of its travel range allowing you some room to move it in either direction.
  • Back up slightly, and switch to Drill Mode with the context menu.
  • Press the "right thumb" up until the auger touches the drill housing.
  • Press the "left thumb" up until the bottom of the auger clears the top of the installed casing.
  • Use "left thumb" to move the tower left or right to position the drill over the casing. The yellow mark on the white circle tells you which way you need to move.
  • Use "B + Left thumb" to maneuver the tower forward and backward, again watching the yellow mark on the white circle. (it does not matter overall whether the tower is all the way up or all the way down as long as you are over the casing).
  • Once the circle turns green, use the "left thumb" to lower the housing down into the green hole. This will take the auger with it.
  • When you are low enough it will pose the option to hit "A" and attach the housing to the casing. Press it and it will jump down into position and start spinning the casing with the auger still all the way up touching the housing.
  • Press down on the "LEFT thumb". This will start to push the casing down into the ground. (most guides say to do the auger first but I never got that to work).
  • Keep pushing down on only the "left thumb" and it will go far enough to trigger the blue model for the second piece of casing. It also automatically disconnects the drill housing from the casing. You will be at 32%.
  • At this point your auger will be about 3/4 full on the yellow indicator over your speedometer. NOW push down on the "RIGHT thumb" to lower the AUGER deeper into the hole until it fills the yellow meter. You are now at 36%.
  • As soon as it is full the drill will stop turning. Use the "left thumb" to lift the housing out of the casing and the auger will come with it.
  • Once clear of the casing turn to the side and with the auger several feet off the ground push the "right thumb" left and right causing the drill to twist back and forth and shake the dirt off the auger.
  • Use the context menu to switch back to drive mode, pick up the second piece of the casing and repeat the steps above.
  • Make sure the auger is all the way back up touching the housing before lowering the housing into the second casing.
  • This time when the housing stops going down there is no "next" piece to worry about (61%) so you just proceed to push the auger down until it is full and the drill stops spinning. This should get you to about 73-74%.
  • Lift the housing off the casing several feet before lifting the auger up this time. If I don't do that things often get a little weird and lock up to the point I have to reset the rig.
  • Use the "right thumb" lift the auger all the way to the housing, the "left thumb" to raise the housing high enough to shake off dirt, and return to the hole for one more plunge of the housing (it will not connect this time and you will have no white circle guides, just push down till it stops and then plunge the auger to get the remaining dirt to the 75% you need to move on to the concrete step.
  • Pull it out housing first, then auger, shake it off and move to the next one.

I do not think the last plunge is intentional which is why there is no position guide and you are only pulling 1 or 2% out of the hole. I think the second casing was suposed to work just like the first one and get you to 75% with one series of actions.

Another tip to avoid switching back and forth to drive mode, you can use a backhoe or excavator to lift the casings into place.

Hope this ends up being helpful to someone.

Anyone else bothered by the minor construction issues in the game?

Listen, I get it, it is a game and they needed content to put in that did not require being out of a vehicle...but I have been in and around construction in some form all my life and some of this stuff is low key bugging me lol.

In some cases I have actually learned some things about large commercial type jobs and equipment and I think that is cool and could be good for young people who know a lot less than I do...but then you got things like using a tower crane and prefab walls to put up a garage? I have NEVER seen a tower style crane used on a residential build. How about a large truck crane to lay some sewer pipe? I am pretty sure no one uses 8" concrete for sewer lol. I could see if we were doing 48" RCP or something then yeah haul away.

The one that is really irking me at the moment is the prefab wood frame walls supporting CONCRETE floors. I mean maybe it is done in some places for a single story small space but I just poured the third floor of the Hotel on Europe map solid concrete and all three floors of walls are made of wood. I mean they have the process of forming and pouring concrete walls for the basement...they could have continued that...or instead of wood just use tilt-up concrete walls. Ideally it should have been a bunch of lam or steel I-beams laid in then crane the supply of plywood for the auto install of the subfloor. I am also highly surprised I have not used a mobile crane to set a ton of roof trusses on the smaller stuff.

One final bit of nonsense...drywall on the outside of the prefab walls? Really? The art department couldn't do some OSB with house wrap or even the chicken wire set up for Stucco? Could have had us deliver a dozen pallets of stucco around the building...or bricks and sand and whatnot.

Anyway, just sort of venting...not a big deal...game still works, just a might misleading for the unknowing.

EDIT to add another one I just thought of. I don't think I have ever seen concrete ceiling forms crafted on the ground and then hoisted into place. It might be possible that some other countries do something like that but even in video form, never seen it. How exactly are they supposed to get those bottom surfaces back out after the pour when they span the walls? Only thing I could come up with is maybe they don't and we jus aren't seeing the layer of plaster or whatever they add to it. It sure looks like bare concrete ceiling after the pour is done though. When you look before you pour there are panels,

Hot tip on prefab deliveries

DO NOT deliver your prefabricated wall containers to the site in an unmarked location and then log off to do "life" thinking "I will place those later". They will be stolen in the night never to be seen again. I had to repurchase 8 full containers when I logged back on and I am pretty sure I did not get any money back from the first loads.

Whether this happens if you put them within the marked storage area I do not know but mine was full of stuff so did not have that option.

Vehicle repair while stored

Do the vehicles only get repaired/fueled at home base when "stored" inside the building (not visible) and not stored in the parking lot?

In other words, if everything I own is on display outside then the bonus percentages for repair mechanic and fuel in the upgrades isn't doing anything?

Backhoe trailer?

Anyone else feel like they missed out on a small trailer made to carry the small backhoe or other small equipment that could be towed by a dump truck or one of the pick up trucks?

I do...I see these combinations all over town where I live. It would have been particularly fitting for the early game when they give you the cargo truck and the backhoe...first purchase would be the trailer to tow it with...

How much of the driving do YOU actually do?

I am about 3 or 4 days into a new run at the base Construction Simulator game. I had previously played a couple years ago and did the American map. This time I am doing Europe.

I jumped in thinking " I am in no hurry, take my time, do the stuff manually. I will fast travel as little as possible." I am now on my first decent sized project and it is literally the opposite side of the map from the Gravel location. After about 4 trips back and forth I am just thinking...is it fun? nope...

I thought to write this after my wife asked me "I thought that was a construction game...every time I look over all I ever see you doing is driving..."

So my question to you all is...how much of the actual driving do you guys really do?

I know there are workers and foreman and even the ability to skip tasks but I never really figured out how to use the additional people the first play through. Is that the way to get around the feeling of cheating or skipping stuff?
