I built an open-source tool that turns part descriptions into editable Onshape feature trees

I built fsgen to generate mechanical parts you can keep editing in Onshape: variables, constrained sketches, extrudes, fillets and patterns.

The demo shows a generated part and its actual feature tree. You can copy the example document and try changing a variable or sketch.

It checks the script and builds supported geometry locally before uploading, so those iterations don’t use Onshape API calls. Native upload needs API keys. There’s also a zero-call manual paste option that creates one parametric custom feature.

Still experimental, with generation tested using Claude. Local feature support is limited. I’d like a few Onshape users to try it on a bracket, mount or enclosure and tell me where it breaks.
