Let people celebrate their wins, no matter how small they seem

I’ve been thinking about how we don’t give ourselves or other people enough credit for the little things in life.

We often celebrate the big milestones, like getting a dream job, getting promoted, or achieving something extraordinary. But what about the smaller victories? Finishing a marathon, getting back into running after a difficult time, finally finding a job after months of rejection, or simply making it through a period of life that wasn’t easy.

I think sometimes we forget that what looks like a small achievement to one person might mean the world to someone else

And honestly, I think we should let people celebrate their wins without making them feel like those wins aren’t big enough.

You never really know how many failures, disappointments, or difficult moments someone has experienced throughout their life. Maybe that marathon is something they’ve been working toward for years. Maybe getting that job came after dozens of rejections. Maybe what looks like a small step forward is actually the result of someone trying to put their life back together.

We all have different struggles, different starting points, and different things we’re trying to overcome. Not everyone is running the same race, and not everyone is at the same stage of life.

Some people are celebrating big milestones, while others are just happy to have made it through another difficult year. And both deserve to be celebrated.

I guess I’m learning that we don’t always have to wait for something huge to happen before we allow ourselves to feel proud. And we don’t have to understand someone else’s journey to be happy for them, either.

So let people celebrate their little wins. Let them be proud of themselves. You never know how much it took for them to get there.

What’s a small win in your life that meant more to you than other people might realize?

How do you guys make extra money to run the Berlin Marathon? 🇩🇪🏃🏻‍♀️

Hi everyone! I’m a casual runner from Indonesia and one of my dreams is to run the Berlin Marathon someday. 🥹
The problem is… getting to Berlin from Indonesia is expensive — flight, accommodation, race entry, food, transportation, etc. And I don’t want to completely destroy my savings just for one race 😂

So I’m curious, for those of you who travel internationally for marathons:

How do you usually fund your marathon trips?

Do you:

Save a certain amount every month specifically for races?
Take on a side hustle/freelance job?
Cut down on other expenses?
Get sponsorships?
Or do you have some creative ways to make extra money for your running trips?
I’d love to hear how you guys do it, especially from runners who travel internationally for races.

Berlin is the dream, but my bank account is currently saying “maybe next lifetime.” 😂

Any tips would be appreciated! 🫶🏻
