Consensus on wisdom tooth removal?
I am a 21 about to be 22 year old male and I am being pushed to have a wisdom tooth removal. I was told to get them out when I was like 18 but didn’t want to and they weren’t causing any pain, and they still aren’t. I am just very worried about facial changes post surgery, I have heard some people say it makes them look better while others have narrower faces post op. I have had imaging done by my dentist and he said it was 50/50 if I was to need to get them out, while the surgeon/orthodontist he referred me to who did more extensive imaging said it was a must. I am going to look for a second opinion on my situation before I go through with the surgery as I am well aware this is a money making racket for these people and don’t want to have a surgery for no reason.
Mainly, I am just very concerned about skeletal changes post surgery. I have heard people loose tissue mass in their cheeks as well as under their eyes and this just sounds terrible. If anybody could provide any anecdotes if this impacted you in any similar way, or a positive way, it would be greatly appreciated.
