Remember when Hilary Duff tried to save pop music in 2026 and y’all let it succeed???
Feeling a little bit nostalgic now that the US Leg of the Lucky Me tour has ended, or at least the first leg!
Hilary Duff is that celebrity, that has never really gotten her flowers either for her acting or her singing career, she has always been successful, and she has always been well liked, but it seemed like she had never really tapped into her full potential.
While she was the blueprint for the Disney actress/tv show to pop star, I feel like others ended up having more success and being more recognized for this, like Miley or Selena. And I feel like critics and part of the general public have never really put respect on her discography. And yes, her albums were released while she and her audience were in their teenage / young adult days and some lyrics can be corny, listening to some of her old songs now, they stand the test of time I’m sorry 🤷♂️ even The Math, Anywhere But Here was always a favorite of mine, and I never thought I would listen to it live in 20206.
The cancellation of the revival of The Lizzie McGuire show felt like a slap in the face from Disney, and it made me think that maybe they had no confidence in her. The there was the fact that Breath In Breath Out wasn’t all that successful... And while I don’t care whether an album is successful or not, success will determine if she tours, how much she tours, and what the future will bring.
We now know that BIBO wasn’t really the album she wanted to make, and thankfully she at least got to meet Matthew Koma, and has a beautiful family thanks to it!
Then the buzz started! Mature did fairly well (it’s still growing on the Radio!), and her appearance as one of the Sally’s was so viral!. The public was ready to see her on stage! And yet, so many other comebacks fell through this past year, from JLo, to Megan Trainor, to the Pussycat Dolls, all of them pop stars that had gotten even more success on their music careers than Hilary, but she really cracked the code on this one, and it makes me SO happy to see that the public was ready for her this time, and that we all have shown up and showed out, as has she and her team done as well.
The world is crazy, and growing up is rough, but Hilary Duff has given me a glimmer of hope and light that things will get better, and that connecting with your inner child and with like minded people can heal you.
Sending much love to all of the other fans and stans! If you made it all the way here thank you and sorry for the weird post. I’m just happy I got to experience this “era” and got to share it with other fans, must’ve been luck… or something.
