Matt Oberst was, in 2011, my English teacher at Sterling Montessori, where he worked for many years. Matt was beloved among his peers and students and was, in my eyes, somewhat of an icon. He spoke proudly of his brother, Conor, who I understand is the primary songwriter and frontman of Bright Eyes.

Matt was a genuine guy with zero tolerance for bullshit. Matt helped me through my problems with understanding and without judgement. He also raised great children.

I'm not really posting this for any reason except to say that I miss Matt, and I'm sure he would be very proud of what Conor has accomplished. I'm glad there is a community that enjoys Conor's music.
