Canada homestay network sucks
Sorry to vent. I just wanted to share my experience in case it helps future students pick a better housing option.
Every host family I’ve had are low income people who are just in for the money. I’ve had to move 3 times, and in every single one, I’ve had to share a tiny basement with two to three other students. The one I’m currently at have us use a separate wifi from theirs with very low bandwidth cause they’re that cheap with utilities😭.
I made the mistake to opt for 3 meal plans for the first two times and only got singular fruits😭 and sandwiches even for dinner😭. Btw the agency DOES NOT gaf about complaints. I’ve made calls and written them emails to no avail. It’s the host families that decide when we move so they can have more students. I tried to give them a chance the first few times thinking I was just unlucky. But no.
I initially went for a host family over renting thinking it was a more viable option. Only for me to find out that I was paying way more than what some of my friends are renting for..
